Rob Lowe Goes Full Hero in New ‘Code Black’ Season 2 Trailer (Video)

Actor joins CBS medical drama for new season set to begin on Sept. 28

“Code Black” Season 2 is ready to welcome Rob Lowe as a doctor who is ready to bring combat medicine to the streets of Los Angeles.

Lowe, who starred in the Fox comedy “The Grinder” last season, shifts gears for the CBS medical drama to play Colonel Ethan Willis, a U.S. Army doctor who was previously a member of the Combat Casualty Care research program in Afghanistan. He has been pulled from that assignment and embedded with the staff of Angels Memorial, only to find that the two jobs are not all that different.

Lowe is not the only casting change for the show’s sophomore season. Boris Kodjoe has been promoted to series regular, while Season 1 stars Bonnie Somerville and Raza Jaffrey have both left the show. Kodjoe plays Dr. Will Campbell, who has been promoted to head of both the ER and OR.

Marcia Gay Harden and Luis Guzman are both returning, with Melanie Chandra, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Jillian Murray and William Allen Young rounding out the cast.

Michael Seitzman, David Marshall Grant, Ryan McGarry, David Von Ancken, Marti Noxon and Linda Goldstein Knowlton serve as executive producers. ABC Television Studios produces in association with CBS Television Studios.

“Code Black” Season 2 will premiere Sept. 28 on CBS.
