Robert De Niro Is Anne Hathaway’s Newest Employee in ‘The Intern’ Trailer (Video)

The Nancy Meyers-directed movie opens in theaters on Sept. 25

Nancy Meyers’ “The Intern” proves that in the workplace, age is just a number.

After discovering that retirement isn’t as great as he expected, 70-year-old widower Ben Whittaker (Robert de Niro) gets another shot at work life when he lands an internship through a community outreach program. Whittaker goes to work for Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway), the founder and CEO of a fashion company.

In a new trailer released by Warner Bros. on Monday, Whittaker explains his decision to take a break from taking a break.

“In retirement, there’s an ongoing relentless effort in creativity,” he said. “I tried yoga, learned to cook, bought some plants, took classes in Mandarin — believe me, I’ve tried everything. I just know there’s a hole in my life and I need to fill it… Soon.”

The senior citizen may be taking on a freshman role, but the trailer proves he isn’t always too out of touch with his younger coworkers. In one scene, he even earns the respect of his fellow employees when the office masseuse flirts with him.

Meyers served as writer and director in this comedy that also stars Nat Wolff and Adam DeVine.

“The Intern” opens in theaters on Sept. 25.
