Robert De Niro will be honored for his performance in "Silver Linings Playbook"
Robert De Niro will receive the supporting actor award at the 16th Hollywood Film Awards for his performance in David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook,” the organization announced on Tuesday.
In the film, which also stars Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, De Niro plays a Philadelphia Eagles fanatic who is struggling to help his troubled adult son (Cooper).
"Robert De Niro is not only highly regarded for his body of work as an actor, producer and director, but also for the passion, integrity and dedication he brings to his performance on camera, as well as his intense off-camera preparation and study of the characters he brings to life," Carlos de Abreu, founder and executive director of the Hollywood Film Awards, said in a statement.
The Hollywood Film Awards takes place Oct. 22 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
