Robert Downey Jr.‘s son, Indio Falconer Downey, was arrested in Los Angeles for cocaine possession on Sunday afternoon, police said.

Downey, 20, was taken into custody after a traffic stop near the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and La Cienega, and subsequent search of his vehicle, during which a deputy discovered the narcotic, a spokeswoman for the L.A. Sheriff’s department told TheWrap.

Downey posted a $10,000 bail and was released just after midnight on Sunday.

Indio Falconer Downey’s mother is the “Iron Man” actor’s first wife, Deborah Falconer. The couple divorced in 2004, although she left the actor years earlier.

The elder Downey’s drug and alcohol abuse led to numerous arrests before he cleaned up and mounted a major comeback, highlighted by the “Iron Man” films.

“Unfortunately there’s a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it,” Downey said in a statement to the media. “Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we’re all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he’s capable of being.”

“We’re grateful to the Sheriff’s department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale,” he added.
