Roberto Benigni, Greta Gerwig Join Penelope Cruz, Jesse Eisenberg in New Woody Allen Film

Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni, Ellen Page and Woody Allen also star in “The Bop Decameron”

Woody Allen's next film, now in preproduction in Rome, is called "The Bop Decameron" and stars Allen, Greta Gerwig and Roberto Benigni, along with Jesse Eisenberg, Penelope Cruz, Alec Baldwin and and Ellen Page, the director announced Monday.

Antonio Albanese, Fabio Armiliata, Alessandra Mastronardi, Ornella Muti, Flavio Parenti, Alison Pill, Riccardo Scamarcio and Alessandro Tiberi co-star in the movie.

Allen's "Midnight in Paris," now playing, has grossed $40.1 million since its May 20 release. It's being shown on 1,038 screens — the most of any Allen movie — and Sony Pictures Classics plans to expand that number.

"Hannah and Her Sisters" grossed $40 million worldwide.

TheWrap reported in April that Eisenberg, Cruz, Baldwin and Page star.

"Bop" is the first movie Allen has directed in Rome. It is a Gravier Productions film produced by Letty Aronson and Stephen Tenenbaum.

It's Allen's first movie financed by Medusa Film, an Italian production and distribution company.

The movie begins production on July 11.
