Robson Named VP of New Movie Initiatives for MTV

Veteran journalist will oversee movie related projects and will work with company’s online offerings

Veteran film journalist Scott Robson has been named vice president of new movie initiatives for MTV Music group, the company announced on Wednesday.

In this newly created role, Robson will oversee movie related projects and will work alongside editors at MTV Music Group’s online ventures including MTV.com and VH1.com.

He will report to Executive Vice President Dermot McCormack.

“Given our audience’s passion for movies, this appointment reflects our commitment to consistently provide compelling and relevant content in this space,” McCormack said in a statement. “Scott’s background in contextualizing entertainment-related content and advancing online platforms will position us for continued growth.”

Before joining MTV, Robson most recently served as editor-in-chief for AOL’s Moviefone.com and AOL Television. Previously, Robson created and launched The Envelope website for the Los Angeles Times and served as a founding editor and editor-in-chief for E! Online.
