Romney Son Knocks ‘Mad Men’ for ‘Mocking’ Dead Grandfather

“Seriously, lib media mocking my dead grandpa?”

One of Mitt Romney's sons was not amused by a "Mad Men" scene in which a character referred to his deceased grandfather as "a clown."

"Seriously, lib media mocking my dead grandpa?" Tagg Romney (left) wrote in response to Politco reporter Alex Burns partially quoted the offending line. "George Romney was as good a man I've ever known. Inspirational leader, worked for civil rights, promoted freedom. We need more like him."

On Sunday's episode, Betty's new husband, Henry Francis, turned down a request that his boss, New York Mayor John Lindsay, appear with Michigan Gov. George Romney.

"Well, tell Jim his honor’s not going to Michigan," Francis said. "Because Romney’s a clown and I don’t want him standing next to him."

The former governor wasn't the only prominent conservative to earn a mention in Sunday's episode of the AMC drama. Ad man Harry Crane said at another point that Charlton Heston — a moderate Democrat in the 1960s who later headed the National Rifle Association — had great marijuana and once greeted houseguests nude.

AMC did not respond to a request for comment.
