Ron Howard shares photo after taking over as director last month

Since taking over as director of the still untitled standalone Han Solo movie, Ron Howard has been busy posting pictures from set. Not much was revealed until Monday morning when he shared a photo of young Chewbacca.

Captioned “#Chewie checking the shot. #UntitledHanSoloMovie,” the photo shows Chewbacca, played by Joonas Suotamo, looking at the screen (on which we can’t see much except for two characters huddling amid a misty scene). Peter Mayhew played the iconic character in the “Star Wars” films.

The “Star Wars” spin off stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, the role that Harrison Ford made famous. The film also stars Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton and Michael Kenneth Williams.

Howard took over the director’s chair just two days after Phil Lord and Chris Miller were let go from the “Star Wars” spinoff last month. The directors had been at the wheel of the film for nearly two years. Physical production commenced in late January in the U.K., and the men completed nearly 17 weeks of shooting through May.

The untitled Han Solo project is scheduled for a May 2018 release date.
