“I’ll always adore her,” comedian says

The year 2011 isn't going down without at least one more high-profile celebrity breakup.

British actor-comedian Russell Brand has filed for divorce from "Teenage Dream" singer Katy Perry, following a flurry of gossip that their marriage is on the rocks.

In the papers, which were filed Friday in Los Angeles, the wild-maned comic cites "irreconcilable differences."

"Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage," Brand said in a statement Friday. "I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."

"Arthur" star Brand, 36, and Perry, 27, were wed during an elaborate ceremony in India on October 23, 2010.

Though the divorce papers list no date of separation, the rumor mill had been churning with rumors of marital strife recently, and the pair spent Christmas apart.

Even so, Brand appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" earlier this month to slam the split-up rumors, asserting, "I’m married to Katy. Perpetually, until death do us part was the pledge. I’m still alive."
