Denzel Washington’s ‘Safe House’ Just Got a Lot More Crowded

Sam Shepard, Robert Patrick, Brendan Gleeson and Liam Cunningham join Washington, Ryan Reynolds and Ruben Blades in Universal’s thriller

Four actors have joined Denzel Washington in the cast of Universal's upcoming thriller "Safe House," TheWrap has confirmed.

Liam Cunningham ("Clash of the Titans"), Brendan Gleeson (the "Harry Potter" movies; "Green Zone"), Robert Patrick ("Terminator 2: Judgment Day," "Walk the Line") and Sam Shepard ("The Right Stuff," "Black Hawk Down") are joining Washington, Ryan Reynolds and Ruben Blades.

Daniel Espinosa  is directing the Universal film about a CIA agent (Reynolds) whose safe house is attacked and must protect a criminal (Washington) from assassins and get him safely to Washington.

David Guggenheim wrote the movie. Scott Stuber is producing through his Universal-based Stuber Pictures. Trevor Macy and Marc D. Evans are executive producing through their Intrepid Pictures shingle.

Universal's senior executive VP of production, Peter Cramer, and creative executive Sara Scott are overseeing the project for the studio.
