Sacha Baron Cohen to Develop ‘The Lesbian’ for Paramount

"Borat" star Sacha Baron Cohen may also act in the film about Hong Kong billionaire Cecil Chao, who offered a $65 million dowry last week to any man who can woo his lesbian daughter

Paramount Pictures has tapped Sacha Baron Cohen and his Four By Two production company to develop "The Lesbian," the studio announced Thursday.

Getty ImagesThe project was inspired by Hong Kong tycoon Cecil Chao's $65 million dowry offer last week to any man who successfully woos his lesbian daughter, Gigi Chao, into a heterosexual marraige.

Chao's bid, made on the heels of his daughter's elopement in Paris with her longtime girlfriend, made international headlines.

Tentatively dubbed "The Lesbian," the film may star Baron Cohen, who will produce it through his company. A writer has not been attached.

Baron Cohen's most recently film, "The Dictator," also satirized headline-grabbing current events. Starring as a Admiral General Aladeen of the fictional Republic of Wadiya, Baron Cohen appeared to parody the late Libyan dictator Col. Moammar Qaddafi's ostentatious public persona during the height of the Libyan uprising.

"The Dictator" made $177 million worldwide, but was a disappointment at the domestic box office, topping out at $59 million, less than its production budget of $65 million.
