SAG-AFTRA began mailing voting information cards to approximately 137,000 members Wednesday as part of the ratification process for the recently negotiated primetime TV and feature film contracts.

At its July 12 meeting, SAG-AFTRA’s national board voted overwhelmingly to approve the tentative agreement reached with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, and is recommending ratification by members.

The cards instruct members how to vote online or, if they prefer, how to request a paper ballot, and provide them with a personal identification number. All votes, whether done online or by paper ballot, must be received by 5 p.m. PDT on Aug. 22. Tabulation will occur immediately after the deadline.

Informational meetings about the new contracts will be held at 4 and 7 p.m PDT on Aug. 5 at participating locals. Members must present a paid-up SAG-AFTRA membership card for admission and those with questions regarding the tentative agreement should email: contracts2014@sagaftra.org or call (800) 518-6623.

The joint referendum requires a vote on the proposed pacts, the 2014 SAG-AFTRA Television Agreement and the 2014 SAG-AFTRA Codified Basic Agreement, covering motion pictures, scripted primetime dramatic television and new media production.
