Sallie Schoneboom has joined IFC as senior vice president of public relations, the network announced Thursday.

She comes from NBCUniversal, where she served as the senior vice president of communications for Syfy and Chiller. In the new gig, Schoneboom will report to Ellen Kroner, executive vice president and chief communications officer for IFC’s parent company AMC Networks Inc. She’ll work closely with IFC president/general manager Jennifer Caserta from the network’s New York City headquarters.

“Sallie is a seasoned communications executive with extensive experience across every area of television public relations,” said Kroner. “She is a terrific addition to the IFC senior leadership team, and joins the team as the network continues to expand its original programming slate and work with some of the biggest names in comedy.”

In her new role, Schoneboom will oversee the development and implementation of strategic consumer media relations, program publicity and talent relations for the growing comedy brand, which boasts “Portlandia,” “Documentary Now!” and “Comedy Bang! Bang!” She will also spearhead IFC’s awards efforts and press events.

At Syfy, Schoneboom led press campaigns for the popular originals including “Sharknado” and its sequel, “Defiance” and “Battlestar Galactica.” Prior to NBCUniversal, Schoneboom was the vice president of media and talent relations at Disney-ABC Television Group where she oversaw publicity for the network’s daytime line-up, including “General Hospital,” “All My Children” and “One Life to Live.” She also helped launch “The View” from that post.

Schoneboom held previous positions at CBS, Hale and Husted Public Relations and Whole Theatre Company.
