Saoirse Ronan Gets Caught Between Ireland and America in ‘Brooklyn’ Trailer (Video)

Fox Searchlight acquired the period drama for $9 million at this year’s Sundance Film Festival

Fox Searchlight released the first trailer for the John Crowley-directed period drama “Brooklyn” on Thursday.

Saoirse Ronan plays Eilis Lacey, a young Irish woman who struggles to adjust to her new home in America. “I have a life halfway across the sea,” she says in the clip.

“Brooklyn” is based on the novel by Colm Toibin and follows a young woman in 1952 who travels to New York from Dublin and gets caught between two different cities and two different men.

The film also stars Emory Cohen, Domhnall Gleeson, Julie Walters and Jim Broadbent. Nick Hornby wrote the screenplay and Alan Moloney executive produced.

Fox Searchlight acquired the film for $9 million at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

“Brooklyn” is set for a November release.
