‘Sarah Connor Chronicles’ Creator Josh Friedman Signs Deal With Universal TV, Will Produce on NBC’s ‘Crossbones’

Under two-year deal, Friedman will develop and produce series for Universal

Josh Friedman has signed a two-year deal with Universal Television, which will find him co-executive producing the upcoming NBC drama "Pirates."

Under the agreement, "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" creator will also develop and supervise projects for Universal TV.

"Josh Friedman puts a distinct, unique spin on everything he writes," Universal Television executive vice president Bela Bajaria enthused, praising his ability to tap into interesting worlds.

Friedman, who most recently had an overall deal at Twentieth Century Television, wrote the pilots for "Locke and Key" and Elementary, and served as executive producer/writer for the pilot "The Asset." His big-screen credits include co-writing "War of the Worlds" for Steven Spielberg and writing "Black Dahlia" for Brian DePalma.

John Malkovich stars as the pirate Blackbeard in "Crossbones." "Luther" creator Neil Cross wrote the series.

Friedman is represented by United Talent Agency and attorney Karl Austen.
