With its TV series finale just a few days away, "All My Children" gets a return visit from Sarah Michelle Gellar, whose career was launched on the daytime soap

"Ringer" star Sarah Michelle Gellar is making a brief return to daytime TV today. The "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star launched her career — and won a Daytime Emmy — with her 1993-95 role on "All My Children," and with the soap's TV series finale airing on Friday, Gellar returns to her old stomping grounds in today's episode (1 p.m. on ABC, 8 p.m. on SOAPnet).

Unlike most of the former "AMC" stars who've made recent guest appearances to mark the show's TV finale, Gellar is not reprising her original role. She played Kendall Hart, daughter of Susan Lucci's Erica Kane, during her original stint with the series, but that role is currently being played by Alicia Minshew.

So Gellar returns today, wheeled into Pine Valley Hospital in a wheelchair, as a mysterious and apparently delusional character who thinks she's … Erica Kane's daughter.

The first person she runs into at the hospital is Dr. Maria Santos Grey, played by another returning former "AMC" star, Eva La Rue, who's currently starring on "CSI: Miami."
