Sarah Palin Blames 'Duck Dynasty' Gay-Bashing Controversy on 'Intolerants' and Their 'Hatin'

Duck, Duck, Oooph

The world can breathe a collective sigh of relief: Sarah Palin has weighed in with her opinion on “Duck Dynasty” patriarch Phil Robertson's anti-gay sentiments and his subsequent suspension from the A&E hit reality series.

Shocker: The former Alaska governor and defeated GOP vice presidential candidate is on the side of the grizzled guy who isn't down with homosexuality.

Palin posted to her Facebook Wall Wednesday evening: “Free speech is an endangered species. Those ‘intolerants’ hatin’ and taking on the ‘Duck Dynasty’ patriarch for voicing his personal opinion are taking on all of us.”

Robertson made headlines Wednesday for a GQ article where he made some unseemly comments on homosexuality. On the topic of sin, Robertson told the magazine, “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there — bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”

Paraphrasing Corinthians, Robertson added, “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers — they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. … Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

  • Jesus Christ

Sarah Palin has done her fare share of intolerant and hating speeches herself. The First Amendment protects Phil Robertson's freedom of speech, not his salaried-position in a reality show he didn't create or produce.

    You reap what you sow.

    Amen.

your a complete moron and believe anything msnbc tells you

      • Dan Chancler

Actually what jesus said was spot on. I mean…he is jesus.

        • Dean

How do we now Jesus or God said this for sure? Seems to me if I wrote a book based on voices I heard in my head I would be locked up in Bellevue. Just saying. The Bible is always and will continue to be interpreted the way someone wants because it was written by humans. Male ones to be exact.

          • Dan Chancler

I was referring to Jesus the author, not literally Jesus Christ. The lib comments in here remind me of the South Park episode “Smug Alert.” Keep bending over and smelling your own pretentious butt holes. Your ideas are as illogical at times as the far right. Your bias support for your party is just as pervasive. Carl Sagan would conclude once again that “this must be the planet of the idiots.”.

        • PissedoffinAZ

Jesus (the biblical version) never said anything about homosexuality. He did , however, frequently talk about love, tolerance, and helping those less fortunate. There was that feeding of the crowd at the Sermon on the Mount, (OMG food assistance!) AND his overturning of the moneylenders tables in the temple. Gee, I wonder who's side Jesus would take in this dispute?

          • Anna Wooten

Jesus would be appalled at what is going on here. He taught about love not hate. He never talked about homosexuality. It is back wood preachers who wanted to control people, who said all kinds of mean things to people about all kinds of people. And because they were in control they had people hung. What kind of love is that. Those back wood preachers were the terrorist of the South.

          • jschlue2

How about some of the other things Jesus never mentioned, like pedophilia, bestiality or rape? I suppose that makes those things ok too, huh? Arguments from silence rest on a shaky rational foundation. It's also interesting how people that say, “Jesus never said…” appeal to the same Bible that they otherwise explicitly reject. Besides, in Jesus’ day homosexuality was condemned so why would He need to make special mention of it? And, Jesus didn't stop speaking after He ascended back to heaven. He continued to speak through the Holy Spirit to the New Testament writers, and homosexuality is also condemned in the NT (Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; 1 Timothy 1:9-10).
In Matthew 19:4-6 Jesus makes clear what God's intent is as far as sex and marriage. If Jesus supported homosexuality He would have skipped right to the last part of verse 5: “…and the two will become one flesh.”
Any response to homosexuality that doesn't fully affirm it is called hatred. After all, Jesus calls us to love, right? If you don't affirm homosexuality you're told you're unloving and, therefore, un-Christian. However, if you're going to hold Christians to a biblical standard like love, you're going to have to define love from a biblical perspective. According to our society, to “love” someone is to affirm every decision they make and to applaud them for just being them, regardless of consequence. Affirmation, acceptance and flattery is confused with true love. When people hear, “God is love,” they impose their own definition of love on it and think, “God doesn't require people to change. He just accepts everyone as they are and Christians should do the same.”
God's unconditional love does not equal unconditional approval or acceptance. Biblical love doesn't lead to glory in self but to glory in God. We were created for the glory of God (Isaiah 43:7). Biblical love seeks our good (“While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Rom 5:8), yet Christians are accused of hate when they try to steer homosexuals away from their sin toward God. In light of that, what our culture calls love is actually hate because it focuses on self with no regard for consequences.

          • Dan Chancler

Thank you for using the slippery slope fallacy perfectly. Glen Beck would be proud of that rant.

          • jschlue2

Read more carefully before you comment Dan. There's no slippery slope argument here. People justify homosexuality by saying, “Jesus never said anything against homosexuality,” so I was just pointing out that He also never said anything against things such as pedophilia, bestiality or rape but that doesn't make those things ok. I never said accepting homosexuality would lead to those things being accepted (although it very well could).

          • Dan Chancler

Maybe you are confused with the slippery slope argument. You just used it again…I'm sure somehow it equates in your mind which is fine. But even partially assuming that homosexuality leads to bestiality, rape pedophilia, shows how misguided peoples (yours) views are who believe the bible is the literal word of god. Why don't we start quoting old testiment verses. It is without a doubt one of the most immoral books ever written and chalked full of hate. I think reading The Pale Blue Dot would do you some good. “The significance of our lives and our fragile planet is then determined only by our wisdom and courage. We are the custodians of life's meaning. We long for a Parent to care for us, to forgive us our errors, to save us from our childish mistakes. But knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Better by far to embrace the hard truth than a reassuring fable. If we crave some cosmic purpose, then let us find ourselves a worthy goal.”

          • jschlue2

I am fully aware of the meaning of the slippery slope argument. I never once said that homosexuality would lead to bestiality, rape or pedophilia. What I said was, that people use Jesus’ silence on homosexuality to mean that He was ok with it. Jesus was also silent on things like pedophilia, rape and bestiality, but His silence on those things doesn't mean He was ok with them. I also believe that once the homosexuals received their legal victory that it won't be long before the pedophiles, polygamists and others like that will want theirs. In fact, it's already starting.

If you honestly think the Bible is immoral and chock full of hate you obviously haven't read it very thoroughly. The main message of the Bible is that God is holy and just, and man is sinful and deserves death. But God so loved the world that He sent His only Son to die for our sins in our place so that anyone who believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. God became flesh and lived among us so that He could save us from the judgment to come.

As far as the Pale Blue Dot quote, it couldn't be more wrong. We were created for the glory of God, and the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Not fear as in being afraid, so much as being in awe of Him for who He really is. “But knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Better by far to embrace the hard truth than a reassuring fable.’ That's for sure, but it is you who is walking in ignorance and believing a reassuring fable. Jesus said, “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” The truth is that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and the soul that sins shall die. That is the hard truth. But as I said, God made a way through Jesus Christ so that we might have abundant life and be saved from the penalty of sin. That's no fable, but it is reassuring.

The passage you quoted may sound good and all, but I would think you'd want to have more to stake your eternal well-being on than that. Besides, if you're right and there is no God, then I'm no worse off than anyone else, but if I'm right and what I've said is true, then I'd be worried if I were you.

          • Dan Chancler

Well its quite obvious that you made up your mind before ever asking any questions. The greatest thing about us non-believers is that we are open to new evidence (Empirical). We get to change our minds if the the evidence is convincing enough. I could cite fact, after fact, after fact, about how improbable (notice the word improbable, science doesn't deal with absolutes) your version of creation is, about how illogical your views are of our importance in the cosmos. The universe wasn't put here for our pleasure. You believe that your reward for being a good person will be going to heaven, I believe REASON tells us that being good to people is just simply the right thing to do regardless of what we might be rewarded. Your version god is so petty and so obviously man made. “God created us in his own image” how convenient is that. There's 400 billion stars in the milky way galaxy and 100 billion galaxies in the observable universe that is 14.6 billion years old. Creationists argue that this is all a conspiracy, the science is wrong, the earth is only 6,000 years old. You are hanging on to whatever ground you have left to stand on. But given enough time, science will explain how our universe came into being, and those who believe in reason will evaluate the evidence and decide for themselves. Those like yourself who have decided in advance will continue to believe in what's comfortable. Sagan talks quite in depth about your last remark. But I'll just say this, if an omnipotent being that created the whole universe succumbs to such human like traits is really the “creator” then I want nothing to do with him. AKA Anti-theist.

          • Dan Chancler

Oh and the irony in this statement is shocking.

“That's for sure, but it is you who is walking in ignorance and believing a reassuring fable.”

I don't believe anything. I evaluate evidence and make up my mind. Empirical evidence backs up everything I understand about our world and the billions of other worlds that are out there. like for instance astronomers have found around 2,200 planets orbiting other star systems. God must have created those for us to….confuse us into thinking we might not be as important as we think..perfect.

          • jschlue2

Dan, you will have to “do with God” whether you want to or not. Every person that has ever lived or will live will have to give an account to Him. And being a good person will not get you to heaven. Salvation is not by works, but by faith alone in Jesus Christ and what he did on the cross for you.

Illogical? What you stand on, in the name of reason, is illogical. To sit back and look at everything that exists and say that it all just spontaneously evolved from nothing all by itself is more illogical and takes more faith to believe than the fact that God created it all. I was watching a show on one of the cable channels a few years ago and one of the learned scientists o the show made a statement that would have been funny if he hadn't been serious. He said, “What is amazing is that everything we see has come about by a series of fortunate accidents.” Logic? Reason? Seriously?

“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” (Rom 1:18-20)

          • Clinton Hennecy

            No.
people justify homosexuality because the Constitution guarantees equality for everyone.
People “argue” with christian's that make claims that “their” bible condemns homosexuality. Even though the person they are supposed to emulate never said anything about it.
They seem to think “their” bible saying something makes it perfectly alright to discriminate against someone.
Their bible is not mentioned in the Constitution.

          • jschlue2

Clinton, arguments from silence are shaky at best. Jesus never said anything about rape either, but does that mean a Christian shouldn't condemn it? He also never mentioned pedophilia, but does that make it ok?

“Their bible is not mentioned in the Constitution.” Well, neither is “sexual preference”. Saying something is a sin doesn't constitute discrimination. “…the Constitution guarantees equality for everyone.” Only under certain parameters. For example, convicted felons are allowed only certain rights. It's not an even playing field in every instance.

          • Clinton Hennecy

Arguments based on a fantasy are even shakier.
            More On.

Geese Clinton, you must be like, what, 12?

          • Clinton Hennecy

Fuck you, and your specious “argument from silence” bullshit.
            Idiot. Moron. Asshat.
Absolutely sexual preference is not mentioned. Because it bears no weight in whether a person should have equal rights.
            Idiot. Moron. Asshat.
You believe whatever you want to believe. Say whatever you want to say. You are totally within your rights.
Don't expect those who can see you're an idiot, moron, asshat, not to point it out.
            Idiot. Moron. Asshat.

          • Clinton Hennecy

For someone that “claims” to be a Christian, you sure do quote the old testament and Paul a lot.

          • jschlue2

Jesus quoted scripture a lot too, and at that time it was ALL Old Testament. As far as quoting Paul, his writings are part of the New Testament, like it or not. The Bible isn't a buffet where you can just pick the parts you like.

          • Clinton Hennecy

Paul was a charlatan that stole the ancient church from the kin of Mary and Joseph.
He had an “epiphany” on the road to Damascus. But there were no witnesses. only Paul. Before that he was a Roman tentmaker that liked to persecute Christians.
After the “epiphany” he somehow got early churches to send him money. He lived a comfortable “exile” in Rome while the churches he “founded” kept sending him money.
Jesus never had or founded a church. He was an evangelist that preached wherever he went. He never passed a round the plate.

          • jschlue2

Ooookaayyy, you just keep on believing that Clinton. By the way, read it again. Paul was a Pharisee and there were several other people with him on the road to Damascus. Also, read 2 Cor 11:21-12:10 to see just how “comfortable” his life was after he became a Christian.

          • Dan Chancler

so then you do believe the earth to only be 6,000 years old?

          • jschlue2

Maybe a bit older than that, but certainly not millions or billions. I definitely am a young earth creationist.

          • Dan Chancler

Well then you shouldn't fly in an airplane, drive a car, use a cell phone, or microwave romen noodles because the same laws that allow for those technologiesalso tells us the earth is somewhere around 4.55 billion years old. Even most of the hardcore religious have conceded this fact. Theres a beautiful world out there, you really should learn more about it. And your impinion albeit your own, impedes progress and insults thousands of scientists who've worked their whole lives on putting together this great mystery. And you come along and ignore everything because once again you've decided in advance because its comfortable. If that isn't the most pure example of ignorance then I don't know what is.

          • jschlue2

I agree, the world is beautiful, and the courses I've taken in biology, biochemistry, geology, astronomy, anatomy, zoology, microbiology, botany, organic chemistry, physics and others attest to this fact. All of the science I've studied has done nothing to show me that God cannot exist. In fact, it has done more to show me that the objects studied by the science likely could not exist without God.

          • PissedoffinAZ

The fact that you lump being gay with bestiality, rape and pedophilia is a sign of your ignorance of the true nature of All That Is. The bible is a pitiful attempt at spirituality at best. At the same time that homosexuality was condemned, slavery was condoned, people were routinely executed for minor crimes, and women and children were chattel. You are totally incorrect in your assumptions about unconditional love, which is, indeed, unconditional.

While there are transgressions, killing being one of them, and I would agree with the other three you cited, being gay is not one of them. There is no hell into which even the most twisted of souls descends. Life, in fact each life, is a learning experience, and the soul is eternal. No one “dies for another's sins”, nor does our creator require glorification or worship.

You can try to mask your hatred and call it by other names, but it is what it is.

          • jschlue2

You didn't read very carefully or you would have understood that I wasn't lumping being gay with bestiality, rape and pedophilia. People frequently say that because Jesus never said anything against homosexuality He was ok with it. I pointed out, as examples, that He never mentioned those other things either, but His silence didn't mean He condoned them. The fact that you see hate where there is none and that you jump to conclusions after a careless reading of what I said says a lot about you.

        • Tom

You just convinced me. I'm sold.

      • Mary Ippolito-Winston

Well Sarah Palin is not very intelligent and very hateful herself -I have listened to her speak and she wouldn't know the truth if it sat up and slapped her in the face – I agree with Jesus – and the very fact that you are calling someone a moron shows that you, personally, have not weighed all the information which leads me to believe that all you listen to is fox news – so, actually you are a moron for believing everything the right wing talk media and fox is brain washing you to believe. Oh, Merry Christmas

        • PissedoffinAZ

Mary I agree with everything you said here, except referring to FOX “NEWS”. It would indeed be news if FOX ever reported any…

          • Mary Ippolito-Winston

Oh you are right!!! News and Fox doesn't go together!

        • PiscesDan

          well said Mary

      • Chequamegon

I'd tell you to go back to Fox, where they care what you think…..but they don't.

      • Melissa Ford Showalter

The first amendment only applies to what the government cannot do, it doesn't protect you from what your employer can do. You are dangerously stupid!

        • Tom

          And you are dangerously cute.

      • dblhelixman

I think you mean “you're.” You see, the contraction for “you are” is “you're.” Your is a second person possessive pronoun, e.g., your home, your car, your beliefs, your stupidity, your ignorance, your intolerance, your lack of basic English grammar, your lack of a home without wheels, et cetera. If YOU'RE going to label someone a “moron” it is always a good idea that your comment is not demonstrative of your personal level of ignorance. Have happy holidays!

        • Tom

You look up a definition and pretend to be a literary genius. Genius!!

      • Clinton Hennecy

        err umm… this isn't MSNBC.
        More On.

      • Tom

Billy, we're trying to discuss some interesting things here. Go play with your sister.

    • Shocked & Tired of It

I cannot believe no one has addressed the audacity of this disrespectful
      person calling themselves Jesus Christ.

      • debi g

He didn't call himself Jesus Christ. He said homosexuality was a sin according to the old testament. And if you, and others, bothered to read the article you would have read where Mr. Robertson also said he would never disrespect anyone on the basis of sexual preference. That the Almighty had created all of us, with a myriad of imperfections, and he did not judge but loved all.

        • Clinton Hennecy

          Actually,

If you'd look at more than just this episode from Mr. Robertson, where he equates homosexuality with bestiality, terrorism and thievery, which is pretty much “judging” people. You will see that he indeed is judging people.

Here's a quote from a “sermon” he held in PA. back in 2010. I expect you'll be seeing this on a television near you in the very near future, as this is on video, and not just printed words in GQ:
“Women with women, men with men, they committed indecent acts with one another, and they received in themselves the due penalty for their perversions,” he continued. “They're full of murder, envy, strife, hatred. They are insolent, arrogant, God-haters. They are heartless, they are faithless, they are senseless, they are ruthless. They invent ways of doing evil…”
So not only does he equate homosexuals with Bestiality, terrorists and theft, they are also equivalent to murderers and invent ways of doing evil.
          Real non-judgmental guy there.
          Not!

          • Guest

What is exactly wrong with judging? We are not animals, we have a brain…….and we use it to make choices. If I know there are streets in my neighborhood where the police are constantly called am I going to hang out down there? Am I going to let my kids go down there and play? If I know some people are doing drugs in their house, am I going to go over there and ask to come in? If I find out a pedophile is living in my neighborhood, am I going have my kids knock on their door to trick or treat? If I have a family member that has questionable behavior, constantly drinking possibly intense arguing with their spouse am I going to let my kid have a sleep over with their kids? The answer to these questions and many more is………… NO. Do I want to be around Murders, Envy, Thieves, Faithless, Strife, Arrogant, God Haters, Heartless, Homosexuals, Terrorists and people who invent ways to do evil. Again, the answer is No. AM JUDGING THESE PEOPLE AND THEIR SITUATIONS/LIFE CHOICES? Yes, is that wrong….No.
We will all be judged one day, no one will be exempt? If you don't like it now, there is not much to look forward to.

          • Clinton Hennecy

            Oh I don't know…
Maybe… just maybe… “Judge not lest ye be judged”.
I responded to cretins claiming the man wasn't judging anyone.
You want to justify your judging someone by saying “we will all be judged…”.
Seems to me that if you want to claim that, then you have to also understand that by judging anyone else, you just assured yourself a place in hell. According to your own belief. More On.
The problem I have with delusional people that think that it will all be better once they reach the “afterlife”, is that means they don't have to really care about this one.
Screw the earth, I'm going where the streets are made of gold. Meanwhile the place we are, in the here and now, gets more and more toxic. Screw the poor, the weak, the infirm, the needy. They will be rewarded in heaven for their lives of suffering.
            More On.

          • Anna Wooten

Homosexuals are not pedophiles, please the christian church had lots of pedophiles in them a lot of youth organizations in the 50's were not even aware of them doing bad things to children. You are scared about something you do not know anything about. Try to find out with out making judgements. It is not what it seems. You are stereo typing things. You are acting as hateful as the next person who is a terrorist.

          • Mary Ippolito-Winston

            Thank you for saying this!!

          • BruceW

I see, there were lots of pedophiles in the Christian church, not some but a lot. And seeing as you know just how many is a lot

          • PiscesDan

there are people and pedophiles, theives, terrorists I do not want to be around also Guest (without a name!) But I also DO NOT want to be a hating homophobe, judgemental, intolerent person like you who HIDES behind their so called god who as you say only loves christians. That is not what Jesus preached and maybe you need to understand that . You are the heartless person on here and it seems that only “perfect” people are worthy of your kind…..I guess you are saying that YOu are perfect…..REALLY?! If we are indeed judged, I would love to be there to see what a god would think of you as such an intolernt judgemantal peson you are.

          • Robotrue

You simply do not understand what the man is saying. He is not equating those things with homosexuality. He is saying that as the nation further rejects God's laws, then these are the kinds of things that will happen. Homosexual acts are one of those things. For example, when this was a much more religious country in which the Bible was considered the moral standard of relationships between men, you know how many people got killed in school shootings? NONE! As the nation has strayed from God's laws, exchanging HIS moral laws for the amoral law of relativism, the nation's moral foundations have gradually disintegrated. into lawlessness and moral depravity. Rome did not fall in a day, and it's fall came from within, not from without. Rome was not a Christian nation, but when they rejected their unique moral code in favor of permissiveness and licentiousness, they only way to go was down. America had better wake up before it's too late. As the quote says, “Those who fail to learn from the past are bound to repeat it.” Well, the past is there to learn from, and we are not doing it.

          • Clinton Hennecy

yeah and then a guy named Reagan made it so that one person couldn't support a family anymore. Both parents had to work to make ends meet.
Pensions went the way of the dodo and now we have 401k's.
You do realize that the phrase “In God We Trust” was added to our currency in the '40s, don't you?
You do realize that the same amendment that guarantees you the right to worship your god, allows anyone else to worship their own god, don't you? Or none if they so choose.
You realize that the founding fathers were mostly Deist's don't you? Not Christians, deists. Look it up.
It was called the Age of Enlightenment for a reason.

          • Laurel A Butler

In god we trust was added in the 50's, during the McCarthy years when America was so afraid of Communism. Those heathen commies didn't believe in god so we had to put it on our money to tell the world know we did………

          • Clinton Hennecy

            I stand corrected.

          • JackDee48

Yes to you for your mention of Deists. That is correct, as is your reference to “In God We Trust”, but in the 50's. And your reference to religious freedom in the Constitution. However, I grew up in the 50's and 60's. My mother went back to work in 1963. I know the creeping inflation that has ruined pensions and caused families to have to rely on two working parents had its origins in the 60's, and 70's when our government, Dems and GOP's included, did not have the courage to balance the demands the federal govt put upon itself, and the states, in the form of national debt and unfunded federal mandates. We had Democrat administrations from 1960 through 1968. I sort of want to apologize for the preceding run-on sentence, but not too much. The truth is that the situation preceded Reagan by a decade or two. Please, Clinton…you seem to be a thoughtful, studious person. Much of the anti-Reagan hatred is simple and thoughtless partisanship. Do some research and you may find that Reagan was victimized by kneejerk liberalism as the rest of us were. My personal belief is that a conservative approach to government is best, but tempered by the knowledge that life is too complicated for one simple approach to govt; because a fanatical adherence to one governmental philosophy, liberal or conservative, is self-defeating.

          • Clinton Hennecy

Under Reagan the national debt reached 5 trillion for the first time. He broke unions, which were gateway to the middle class.
You can blame any and all administrations you want, but Reagan did deep damage to America at its core. His lies about the “welfare queen” and his homilies “I'm from the government and I'm here to help” were the beginning of the republican push to “make it so small we can drown it in a bathtub”
And I take offense at being referred to as either “simple” or “thoughtless”.
It may surprise you to know, I would be more than happy to support a republican. if there were any left.
Republicans preach small government, but they are the first that want government to intrude in our private lives.
Republicans preach “Small Government” but the government becomes more bloated under their care.
Republicans preach “Fiscal Conservancy” when a Democrat is in the office of President, and only then. Dick Cheney famously remarked “Deficits don't matter”.
The “War on Drugs” Nixon. “Just say no” Reagan. Trans-Vaginal Ultrasound. VA Governor Bob McDonnell (R).
I was in high school for Eisenhower.
These problems did not “precede Regan by a decade or two.
Civil discourse that is not based on history or fact offers nothing to the conversation. I'm sorry but the experiences of this American, do not in any way allow me to agree with most of what you've said.

          • LollyAnne

Are you kidding me?! Were the heck have you been? We've had leaders of countries gassing innocent men, women and children, just because they were Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, or even disabled people. This lasted for 12 years! All back in the good old days when everything was so MORAL. Just like how everything was so MORAL having slaves, just like all kinds of other tragedies from all of history's time! What about the speak easy days when you might witness a hit or two? Like the President of the United States getting his brains blown out on TV for everyone to see? Just because you didn't hear about it, because there wasn't the amount of technology in the past as there is today, doesn't mean it didn't happen! Egads. You persecutors are the exact opposite of what my God teaches.

          • Tom

Our ancestors burned people at the stake because they thought they were witches. I could go on and on. Your equating immorality with atheism or another religion and there is no proof. Religion is free, it's taught to people, it's either accepted or rejected by individuals and that is fine. But it should never be used as a tool to coerce people or strike fear into a society. There is a possibility that when you die you simply break down into the earth again, gone forever. You'll be with a lot of Romans I guess.

          • John

Tom, some people would still be burning people at the stake if they could get it passed into law. This is why religion has to be kept in check. Could anyone imagine the bloodshed if we went by old testament law.

          • Tom

The old testament contains written text that is both profound and shockingly horrid. It and some of the early collections would seem to me to be a kind of Achilles heal for christianity because it talks of an intolerant god and some pretty bizarre happenings. But it's part of the religious collection that is adhered to by many even today. It was written over a long time period and I think some of it is just not taken literally. I'm no religious scholar but was raised catholic and attended sunday school throughout my youth taught by nuns. I had the ruler hits over my knuckles and the whole bit. It was really something, strict and intimidating. They would make us repeat passages over and over until it was drilled into our memory. I grew away from religion as I became an adult and saw more of the world. I studied science and geology and such and the more I learned the less I embraced religion. I sound like i'm writing an autobiography, sorry..

          • Clinton Hennecy

Rome fell (by the way) because they spread their kingdom too far.
When Rome was invaded, there weren't enough troops to defend the homeland. They were all stretched from North Africa to Europe and the English Isles.
            But, hey! Thanks for playing
You know, if you're really going to use history as a reference or a reason… it might just be a good idea to know history.

Oh… and the Romans did become a Christian nation, before they fell. Under Emperor Constantine. Hence the “Holy Roman” Empire.
            Just sayin’

          • Dani E

And slavery, polygamy, incest, rape, abortion and human sacrifice….at some point all of those things were acceptable to “God” in the bible. The hypocrisy of those that think religion does not evolve. I can say there is nothing Christ-like in the judgmental greed of DD!

          • JackDee48

Incest? No…not in any old or new religion I know of. Nor bestiality.

          • Clinton Hennecy

            Read Noah idiot.

          • Dani E

how was the earth populated by Adam and Eve, again after the great flood…..miracle children falling from heaven? Beastiality was not mentioned in my comment, stay on point.

          • NCW John

What he is saying is that unrepentant sinning is all the same in the eyes of the Lord.

          • Clinton Hennecy

            Whose lord?
            Which lord?
            Vishnu?

          • Tom

How does he know, seriously, how does he know? If no one has any proof, how is it that he knows. He read it in a book and he chooses to believe what he read. That's it and nothing more. I read it in a book and I don't believe it. Who's right? Him or me?

          • Tom

I saw that yesterday. Nothing will sway his supporters though, He is to some a outspoken hero, defending jesus and the teachings of god. It runs so deep with some folks that it won't matter what video turns up. In fact, the more, the better for his fans. Somewhere out there may be some quote from him on abortion as well. He is what he is, there are people out there toting the bible that make him look like a saint. In fact, he's not a bad guy, just a bit ignorant is all. And that is just my opinion.

          • Clinton Hennecy

            Absolutely.
My biggest problem with his defenders is that they don't seem to get the fact that the Constitution grants rights to people that don't believe or think like they do, as well as them.
            Haters gotta hate.

          • Tom

Any issue up for debate that relates to religion is going to have people planted firmly on both sides refusing to yield ground. His suspension is for violating a moral claus, but because he gave a religious view the christians are going to get riled and equate it as an attack on christianity. I thought the comments on blacks was just as offensive but so far— crickets.

          • Clinton Hennecy

These are the same people that want to blast those “Dirty Muslims”, but don't understand that the jihadist's want the same thing they do.
To the Muslim's, Jesus was just a prophet, like Muhammad.
They just want everyone to follow the teachings of “their prophet” to the exclusion of everyone (or anyone) else's.
They are so blinded by “religion” they aren't willing to allow anyone else the freedom to not believe as they do.
It's also that these people make no secret of the fact that they ignore pretty much everything their prophet was trying to teach them. Peace, Love for one another, Tolerance.
            Taliban, Al Qaeda, Evangelical Christians.
To me they're all the same.
Oh, and they're idiots and morons too.
            But the other stuff mostly.
            Watch the fur fly now!

          • Tom

I hear you and agree. I've discussed it myself. Politics and religious debate are hot topics. I get infuriated when I read someone's arrogant post about christianity being the only true religion and dismissing others as lost or confused or misguided, etc. Then the argument that atheist's like me are empty souls devoid of morality and doomed to eternal suffering or non entry thru the pearly gates. Religion gives some people hope and strength, it saves them from perhaps a past fraught with misdeeds, I get it. I don't need it for myself, but I don't want to tell anyone it's wrong. People need to feel hope and community and religion can provide that. But it's the arrogance and self righteousness that is irritating to me.

          • Sharon Hendrickson

Christianity IS THE ONLY true, viable solution to the human condition of Sin. It addresses the real, underlying problem. Sin. Christianity gives an infallible prescription for straightening up this present life, and for your future life after death.
You may have intellectually come up with some morals to go by…but I'll tell you they are biblically founded: Don't kill, don't steal, don't lie, etc. You can't escape Christianity in our western world, so you might as well join us! [Deep, thundering music]..There are many of us among you….
(Last sentence is a JOKE BTW! That was a real comment from a whacky, communist student friend of my brother's, circa 1979… I've never forgotten it)

          • GOD

All dogs go to heaven. All bitches too!!!

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

you don't believe in heaven, do you?

          • K Law

Christianity is another bullshit religion like any of the others!

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

Complete wrong, true, genuine Christians will pray for you, probably at least, some Christians are in your own family. But guess what, go to a Muslim country, insult them, as you do against Christians, and your head will roll down. Have you the guts of prove me wrong? So real Christianity is unique.

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

so which one is your “church” the Darwinian or the atheistic church?

          • John Johnsonson

I just don't believe a work of fiction that begins with a talking snake and condones expanding your intelligence.

Man, I must look like a fool.

            Says you…

          • Mary Ippolito-Winston

Spirituality is one of the solutions to the human condition – not just Christianity

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

Mary are you the LIAR “graduated from a seminar”, I still waiting your answer, which Seminar? the same one attended by Obama?

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

and your saying is based in the writings of who???????? Because Yeshua/Jesus say “I'M THE WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE, NOBODY comes to the Father-G-D, without ME” so seen to be that you “know” something that HE didn't right? MISLEAD PEOPLE WILL be charged against you before the White Throne, that don't make difference in what your believe or not, unless G-d is a liar, is HE?

          • Sharon Hendrickson

You are very, very wrong and horribly undereducated about world religions. Jesus told sinners “To go and sin NO More” He supported the 10 commandments wholeheartedly. He was against divorce and homosexuality. He was God incarnate. He confronted sinners all the time! That's what got him railroaded and murdered, for Pete's sake. Don't YOU DARE equate Christians with radical muslims!
In fact, Clinton, exercise some good judgment and turn off your computer. You're an idiot.

          • bruno64

jesus was against homosexuality, but yet He had two fathers?

          • Mary Ippolito-Winston

Bruno – an adoptive father Joseph

          • bruno64

and i guess many priests and nuns didnt get the message because of the amount of child molestations they are being found guilty of.

          • Clinton Hennecy

            Fuck You Sharon Henderson!
Who the fuck are you to tell me not to dare to do any damn thing I damn well please? Christians and radical Muslims are both more interested in shoving their version of religion down other people's throats than living the way their prophets tried to teach them to.
Where does Jesus say anything at fucking all about homosexuality?
            You self righteous bitch.
As for being “undereducated” it certainly sounds to me like the only religion you even think you have a clue about is yours.
Kiss my ass you fucking whore.
“I have come to make the Law whole. The first, I am the Lord thy God. Thou shalt have no other, before me. The second is like unto it, love thy neighbor as thy brother”.

A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.

          • Mary Ippolito-Winston

Clinton read what I wrote above – Jesus doesn't judge people as harshly as the “Christians” do – they hide behind the bible. She has not responded to any of my responses. And its modern Christians that try to shove their religion down the throats of others. They take their bible literally and figured because its in black and white, its true. Its almost as if they kind of missed the mark – I don't mean to get all preachy but I sure as hell hope that when I meet God at the end of my life He greets me and says “Okay, lets talk about your life and you tell me where you could have been better” instead of their version of a judgmental and angry God that says “You disappointed me go to hell”…do you follow me?

          • Mary Ippolito-Winston

            or below after bruno

          • Clinton Hennecy

            Absolutely.
Problem is, if they took their bible literally, they'd love everyone unconditionally. They'd forgive unendingly.
Mostly they just pick and choose the parts that fit their own narrow minded views, and claim that's it, the bible agrees with me and everyone else is wrong.
If there is a God, and a heaven and hell, these “christians” will have a special place in hell reserved for them.

          • Ashley Lawson

And you will have a special place in my arse hole LGBT moron. Isn't that where you guys like to live?

          • Clinton Hennecy

Wow. Did you think of that all by yourself?
And you just assume that I'm either Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual or a Transvestite just because I don't agree with vile bigotry?
Sorry No. But Hey! Thanks for playing!

          • Mary Ippolito-Winston

Clinton the profile picture says it all …bless her heart

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

Really???? So you have your own “pornographic bible” ?BECAUSE MY GOD DON'T SAY THOSE STUPID WORDS that you vomited here. If you don't repent from your sodomy, yes you will be cast INTO A LAKE OF FIRE, read MY Bible:
“Anyone whose name was NOT FOUND in the Book of Life, was thrown INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE..” Revelation 20:15.
are you so stupid, that you believe your own lies?
            G-D can't be mocked.
Maybe you repent today, so your name can be written , before is too late. If you DIE in your SINS, there's no hope for you, period. You think that G-D is a stinky humanistic liberal psychologist ????

          • Clinton Hennecy

            FUCK YOU and YOUR BIBLE!
            IDIOT, MORON

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

if you have so much hate for the bible, why you quoted? the Word of G-d is like a mirror, do you don't like what you see in it? maybe you are looking in your own soul. Insulting people only show the “tolerance” preached by your kind. You sound exactly like Cuomo. Very vulgar, homo-phobic.

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

congratulations Clinton!!! your words were very precise!!!
you really show how much trash you carry inside, good spokesgirl for the sodomites “from the abundance of the heart, speak the mouth” Yeshua Nozri, aka jesus. About where ‘jesus spoke about the sodomites’ read my reply to “Garcia”

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

“VERY TRULY I TELL YOU, EVERYONE WHO COMMITS SIN IS A SLAVE OF SIN” YESHUA NOZRI.

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

Clinton, you answer your question about “where jesus say anything about homosexuality?’ you type : I (jesus)come to make the LAW WHOLE.” Mathew 5:17-21
THAT IS your answer, anything in the old testament against homosexuality, is HOLD current by “jesus”. You need to stop the dirty language, speak lots about you heart.

          • Mary Ippolito-Winston

As someone with a major in Theology and a minor in world religions – yes, Jesus said sin no more but His forgiveness is unending. Also Homosexuality and divorce are not sins – they are man imposed sins. We all have a God given right to be who we are. One I would like to know – so if a woman is in a marriage where she is abused by her husband or her husband molests their children and she decides on divorce in order to save herself and her family – is that committing a sin? What if the man divorces her because he is in love with someone else – does she hang on or does she let him go to start a new life. Its more of a sin, in my opinion, to hang on to something that is going to hurt you. God understands this. and muslims aren't radical they still believe in one God – all religions are a path to the one God, we have no right to condemn or judge those who believe differently than we do. Most of the stories and words in the Bible were of man – parables were told in order to appeal to uneducated people so that they would understand the teachings of God. I think we would all be surprised at how unconditionally loved we all are by God. In truth…Judge least ye shall be Judged – in plain English Who are we to judge one another???? Thats His Job and he's a bit better doing it than we are. Remember WE ARE ALL CHILDREN OF GOD – not just those of us who feel we should be first at the Gates because we call ourselves Christians and walk the walk. Again I say to you Merry Christmas -

          • Mary Ippolito-Winston

by man imposed sins I meant that WE are the ones calling them sins not God – people are allowed to love who they want without the rest of humanity calling the shots

          • TerryG

Personally, I want to be the last person through the gates, just to see the bible thumpers faces when I come waltzing in laughing.

          • Mary Ippolito-Winston

Actually, I would love to see the look on my mother's face!! But I am with you.

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

Mary, you have a “major in theology” really, from what theological seminar? IS OBVIOUS THAT YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE BIBLE!!!
maybe you has pass in front of a seminary, because your ignorance and your pride in sodomy, only show that you're a graduated from sodomy school.
YOU NEED TO REPENT AND BORN AGAIN BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
Where the Bible teach that “all are children of G-D?

          • Mary Ippolito-Winston

Romans 8:15-18For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” 16The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, 17and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.
Fordham, 5 years a dominican nun and Georgetown.

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

So you really are a shame for the TRUE Gospel of the Lord and the apostles, Because your teaching is not even in accord with the Catholic faith, the Church speak about compassion toward homosexuals, and I agree with that. But compassion and Approval are two different things, What I heard from you part is an apology for sodomy, which can he sustain by biblical basis. Romans 8, as the whole Letter to the Romans (as all the Apostolic Letters) were addressed to Believers, to disciples of the Lord, no to the whole society. Every Pauline Letter start with “To the SAINTS in such city..”
So you are mislead, in believe that the whole of society, equal “to the body of believers”. The whole bible context, never provide that type of generalization that you artificially try to invent.
Romans chapter 8 is clearly directed TO FOLLOWERS OF JESUS, to people who has abandon SIN and has found a new life ( II Corinthians 5:17) Those “WHO ARE IN CHRIST” Rom. 8:1 are those who had been regenerated by the Holy Spirit. Gospel of John 1:12 “those who are born no by the will of men, but the will of God” mean no the entire world, as the context clarify, ONLY those “WHO RECEIVE HIM (as Lord, Master) become “children of God.
John teach more specific in his II Epistle, about the difference between “children of light, and children of darkness” THINK THAT BOTH ARE THE SAME IS HERECY, a Contradiction of the Biblical True.
Universalism, what you believe, don't have biblical base, otherwise Jesus message “No everyone that call me Master, will inherit the kingdom of G-D, but those, that do the Will of the Father.”
So far, no G-D, no Jesus, no apostles, no the Bible, no your OWN Catholic Church, sustain universalism, neither approve homosexuality .
Remember, YOU will be accountable on Judgment Day for those souls that you mislead by false ideas.

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

And the “sacred texts” to base your cheap hypothesis IS WHAT?????? can you quote your “sacred XXX magazine” that teach “homosexuality is not a sin” ????????????????
            COME ON MARY!!! SHOW ME!!!!
My Holy Book said the opposite: Romans chapter 1, Galatians chapter 6, II Corinthians, chap. 6; Revelation, chap. 20, the verses are too many to type here!!

          • FlaveFlava

my lord, shut the fuck up

            your lord???? you mean SATAN?

That's harsh. Is there still time to edit? We can't shoot each other in this country for saying outlandish things. Well, we shouldn't anyway.

          • bruce Watters

yeh he's the idiot but your thinking killing people is OK. It's not like that here yet but if you like the idea so much move to Afganistan

WHO'S HATING WHO. CLINTON? Look at the vitriol & hatred coming from the alleged ‘open-minded’ against Robinson, Sarah Palin. Christians, the bible, biblical morals, Fox news, ad nauseum.
They don't want to live and let live. They want to crush and silence anything and anyone that dares to speak contrary to a total amoral, sybaritic world view.

          • Clinton Hennecy

So… let me see if I understand what your issue is…
You find the fact that people are not willing to tolerate intolerance, intolerable.
            Is that about right?

          • Mary Ippolito-Winston

It's fear of change. They want to crush anyone and anything that doesn't believe the way they do

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

Mary you mean the satanic change of turning the USA into a country of faggots and lesbians, passing HIV to the whole world? We don't need to crush nobody, OUR G-D will do it, and soon.

          • me

Exactly. Why dont you believe this way yourself?? You haters want everyone to think the way you do or be called “haters” now…and worse later.

          • Clinton Hennecy

Sorry, wrong, but thanks for playing.
We expect that you understand that everyone has rights, not just you.
We expect every one to be treated equally, and not suffer discrimination because of who they are or who they love.
We expect you to realize the Constitution does not support the discrimination.
You are perfectly free to have whatever opinion you want. I don't care at all. It becomes an issue to me when some start saying because their bible says this or that (about anything that they think) that means it's okay to discriminate against someone. The bible is not in the Constitution.
We are more than happy to let idiots and morons spout off their bigoted and/ or racist dreck. However, when someone spouts off their vile bigoted and/ or racist opinions, we also have every right to call a bigot a bigot.
            Got it?
Luckily, according to the most recent polls, these bigots are dying off as they reach advanced age, and are being replaced with more tolerant, accepting younger people.
As long as the republican party allows its most bigoted, racist, anti-women wings to determine policy, they will become more and more marginalized.
I think they can say goodbye to ever re-achieving majority status in the Senate, and I expect they'll lose the House in the mid-term.

          • Bruce Watters

I didn't read anything he said about taking rights away from others but you sure as hell want to take away his rights. You are the one who wants everybody to think like you

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

Clinton, again, you are the best product of brainwashing, by a school system that don't educate people, and by a media that promote depravity. In what part the Constitution “grant rights to people”? Where the Constitution said that “saying the truth is an act of hate”? The Constitution is a body of Laws regarding the political system of the new nation, the USA. Nothing is there about “homosexual rights”. Indeed, no Washington, Franklin, Adams or Jefferson were defenders, or promoters of homosexuality.
You wrongly assume, that being homosexual is a “right”. If so are you as parent let you little boy have sex with a man? or your daughter with a woman? has you mother or grandma the “right” to have a lesbian relationship? Will you denied those “rights” to your children? Are those rights for ALL of just for some? If you denied sex to your children, are not you violating “their “rights” to have sex”? Why only adults? that will be discrimination based on age, right?
Nothing in the Constitution, Bill of Rights, or any other document signed by the Fathers of the US nation, estipulate “rights for homosexuals”. WHY? Because sodomy was and still considered a SIN, a morally deviant, perverted way of life by the Founding Fathers, they were MEN with Moral values, who acknowledge the Moral Principles of the Bible, the “Laws of Nature, and of God's Nature” so the Government established by them NEVER GIVE RIGHTS, they admitted that were given “by the Creator”.
No liberal in this world can prove that homosexuality is a “right” nor God or Jefferson said so.

          • Clinton Hennecy

            You are a fucking moron.
You post something 2 weeks after the fact and expect someone to reply?
Not a single one of your posts has anything to do with anything but your own fucking opinion.
            Paul was not Jesus, moron.
Do the fucking words “All men are created equal and endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights” mean anything at all to you idiot?
yes I know, it's the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution.
The founders were Deist's, not Christian's.
“The Constitution is a body of laws regarding the political system of the new nation…”. Just how big an idiot are you?
The Constitution sets forth the rights that are guaranteed to “All Americans”.
            You fucking pious moron.

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

Clinton, the truth from the Bible, really get you eh? since you reject the bible, you must belong to the Darwinian religion surely.

          • Sharon Hendrickson

Thanks for at least a semblance of open-mindedness here in your opinion, Tom!! A bit more than 99.9% of the libtard commentators here and especially the author(s) of this original sarcastic, patronizing article about SP.
What I don't get is WHY, when outspoken Christians say something it becomes a lightening-rod for liberal hatred.?..I mean violent, bullying hatred. Aren't these authors & lib commentators acting out in exactly the SAME WAY that they so rabidly believe that conservatives & religious people act?
            It goes far beyond hypocritical…

          • Tom

Yes, some do overreact. There are certain things that get people emotionally fired up more than others, and homosexuality is one of them since it deals not only with peoples personal beliefs but has religious teachings attached to it. Had it not been for my best friend coming out gay years ago and since then meeting gay folks that i genuinely like I would probably still be disgusted with them. I was brought up to be disgusted by them, I learned it. Unlearning it took a personal family experience as with a lot of people. I would like to think that Phil Robertson would probably change his position if his son was gay. But that is not the case. I understand his contempt. I just disagree.

          • K Law

You sound stupid! “Liberals bully”?? What then do conservatives do?? I guess holding the country hostage like they did is a great thing to do to you. As well as all the other crap they've done since President Obama's time in office. This isn't just liberals criticizing this jackass. It's all parties criticizing this retard little girl!

          • Jebbadiah

Those aren't his words. They are straight out of Romans 27-31. He's not judging, he is repeating scripture.

          • Clinton Hennecy

            So, he's a Paulian.
            That explains a lot.
            Personally, I'm a Christian.
That Paul guy preached too much hate and derision for my taste.

          • llittle111

Nobody hates better than bible thumping Christians.

          • Meg

I also saw this, but you're not saying how edited it was. You were not at the sermon, so you do not know that he was saying that homesexuals are all of those things. He may have been talking about “sinners” right before. The media makes you see what it wants you to see. Open your eyes a little more, you may agree or disagree with what he said but you can't continue to feed into the media.

          • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

Clinton, you really sound the perfect sample of a X generation person. Due to a indoctrination school system, no wonder the USA students rank 26th on Mathematics, Reading and History. Since when the word “Include, including” mean “equal”? Only in the ignoramus world of liberals, the most narrow minded people in the world. Robertson QUOTE the Bible, no a loose “sermon” as you suggest. He Quote II Corinthians chapter 6.
Why liberals pretend to destroy the English language also?
Including homosexuals with OTHER Sinners is not “equaling”, so if you say “the house has nice windows, large doors, and a big chimney’ YOU mean:doors, windows and chimney are the SAME thing? Whoao, only an idiot will “rationalize” like that. By the way, you Quote the Bible also, Romans chapter 1, so again, since when is “hate” EQUAL to Truth? In what language Hate equals Truth? I tell you: only in the mind of those who HATE GOD. You can run, but never fool God justice if you don't Repent. HIS WORD JUDGE MEN!!

        • Sharon Hendrickson

Flunked ‘paragraph comprehension’ did ya? “Shocked and Tired of it” was referring to the POSTER who went under the pseudonym of “Jesus Christ” The comment listed first. {He, she, It} seriously crossed the line of decency there.

          • Child of God

Hello! I just wanted to say that whoever you are employed, unemployed, single, married, widow, what race, what your sexual preferrence is, there has to be truth out there. Everyone can't know the truth. There are going to be those that think they are right, and on the other side there will be others thinking they are right. The problem is that when you here ” Homosexuality, adulterers, fornicators, evildoers are going to hell etc. Some of you are like what??? That's judging. Well, the truth is they are all lumped together because they are sins. That is not being judgemental. That's what the Bible says! The Bible also says that we all were one of those a liar, stole, maybe not in the list above, but still we are all start out as sinners. We only change and get set free, and know the truth when God shows us the truth! The Bible says the way, the truth and the life is only through Jesus Christ! That He is the only WAY to get to heaven! That sounds not very inclusive to some, but that's the truth. Only when we accept Him as Lord over us can we see the truth and be set free! I am thankful God has shown me the truth, and I pray others will see this and know they can be set free from whatever is ruling their lives, and can have true peace, love and joy in their lives! The problem is Satan doesnt want people to see or know the truth, and deceives them into thinking lies! If you are lost, lonely, want to make sure you know the truth, then pick up a Bible my friend, and read it! Even if you think, oh, that is crazy! Just try it! Ask God to show you the truth, and He will! Jesus died on the cross for all of us! We, Christians, are not perfect, we are just redeemed! Also, sorry! This is to everyone BTW! I just agree with Sharon alot!

        • ewe

And if you tried that at your job you should be suspended as well

        • Chuck Nor Peggy

debi g…. how stupid can you get? Shocked and Tired was replying to the previous commenter who called himself Jesus Christ and not about anything Robertson said. It is you who needs to read

        • llittle111

Hold on debi g. Phil Robertson disrespected the black and gay communities at the top of his lungs and then (lied) by saying he wouldn't after he just did. Nobody hates better than bible thumping Christians and I say keep him away from a microphone before young minds get polluted through his broadcasting hatred. If you are going to quote the Bible, do it in the closed doors of a church so the rest of us won't be offended. And by the way, I will absolutely guarantee you that blacks weren't singing and happy in 1946 Georgia where there were more lynchings than car wrecks.

          • jschlue2

That's the pot calling the kettle black little. It really amazes me that people like you can disrespect and slam Christians all you want and it's ok, but when a Christian says something is wrong you say they're spreading hatred. How do you justify that, do tell. All Phil Robertson was doing in the bulk of his remarks was quoting/paraphrasing a passage in the book of Romans. He was just telling what God thinks of the whole mess.

          • llittle111

God doesn't exist…just like Santa Claus…….a product of self-hypnosis…………People who use religion as a weapon don't deserve respect.

          • jschlue2

You never answered my question – you just deflected it with more “hate”. Your hypocrisy is showing. Hypocrites don't deserve respect either.

Besides, how do you know God doesn't exist? I would like to hear that too.

          • llittle111

Bring me the evidence that god exists….bring me the evidence that one prayer has been answered…bring me the evidence of Heaven and Hell……..All religion is crap…….all 2500 of them……..Christians are the meanest and have been fighting Islamic wars for 1500 years

          • jschlue2

Typical response. The burden of proof is on the one who makes the claim, so let's hear it. And I'm still waiting for you to explain how Christian views on homosexuality are hateful but everyone else's negative views on Christians are not.

I have had all kinds of prayers answered, but I imagine nothing I say would convince you.

Christians are the meanest? Really? What Islamic wars have we been fighting for 1500 years? Christianity doesn't teach it's adherents to “kill the infidel”. Just because some have used Christianity as an excuse to be nasty doesn't mean you can condemn all Christians.

          • llittle111

Your argument is boring and not worth putting any energy into……….. you are too ignorant to try and educate……the earth was covered with a mile thick ice……..was this before or after the garden of Eden?……….

          • jschlue2

Again, typical response when you have no argument. Belittle the other person, belittle their argument, and provide nothing of substance. You're not going to try to educate me because you can't.

          • llittle111

Call it whatever you want………no proof of God…..no proof of life after death……no evidence of prayers answered…no proof of heaven or hell……just blasting religious hot air…… you are just a biological specimen who will soon rot like everyone before you and everyone after you………..

          • jschlue2

I guess we know who the ignorant one is now. You're the one with the hot air. “I know what I believe, don't confuse me with the facts.” At least I know why I believe what I believe.

          • llittle111

            I can back up what I say………you can't

          • jschlue2

            Really? Let's hear it.

          • Clinton Hennecy

            What facts?
You haven't posted any fucking facts?
You have only asked others to prove that your delusions are just delusions instead of reality.
You sir are an idiot and a moron.
Your second problem is that you expect others to be able to prove that to you. How can you prove anything to an idiot and a moron?
            Want to buy a clue?

          • jschlue2

Wow Clinton, I guess I was wrong. You can't be more than 9 or 10. I have plenty of clues, but if I didn't I couldn't buy it from you because you obviously don't have one. Why not come back when you can have an intelligent, adult discussion?

          • Clinton Hennecy

Mainly because it's impossible to have “an intelligent, adult discussion” with someone that is convinced that fantasy is reality. But you can keep on calling me a child without offering any semblance of “intelligent, adult discussion” all you want.
            More On.
            No substance to anything.
Everyone else needs to prove your point. Everyone else is the “child”.
Kiss my ass you self righteous asshole.

          • jschlue2

It's impossible to have “an intelligent, adult discussion” with someone who needs to resort to name-calling and vulgarity. If you don't want to be called a child, then stop acting like one.

As far as whether or not God exists, the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence. However, there is plenty of evidence for God, just look around you. You'd have to be a “More On” to say that it all just happened by itself by accident. People like you assume that any event which can be explained by science automatically excludes God, and that if God didn't do something via direct action, He didn't do it at all.

You've already made up your mind that anyone who believes in God is delusional unless they can provide evidence, which you've also already decided they can't do. That position is not logical since science has barely even scratched the surface of all the knowledge in the universe. In order for someone to say, “There is no God,” and have it be true, requires one to have absolute knowledge that God exists nowhere in the universe, and no human has that kind of knowledge. If someone thinks they do, they are the ones who are delusional. The best you can do in that case is to say, “Based upon the evidence I now possess I am not sure there is a God.” However, for someone to say, “There is a God,” and have it be true requires only that one has just a speck of evidence that God exists, which I already pointed out exists in nature. I can't help it if you reject the evidence out of hand just because it doesn't fit your theory.

          • Clinton Hennecy

Just because “God” may exist, doesn't necessarily mean he does. And it doesn't mean it has to be your god, if one does exist.

          • Clinton Hennecy

Again, typical response when you have no proof to back up your position. Claim victim status and demand someone convince you that you're delusional, instead of admitting to yourself that you have delusions.
            Nice try.
            More On.

          • Clinton Hennecy

            err… um… no.
You claimed the existence of the flying spaghetti god. Kind of up to you to prove it.
Trying to claim it's the other guy that has to prove something that doesn't exist, doesn't exist, is one of the first fallacies taught in Logic 101.
            But hey! Thanks for playing!
            More On.

        • Paul Mauricio Velasquez

debi g, the subject of homosexuality as sin is across the whole Bible, no only in the “old testament”. Look for references to “Sodom and Gomorrah” “the sodomites”, Yeshua aka jesus said on the gospel of Mathew “I don't came to abolish the Torah (Divine Law) but to fulfill it..” Mathew 5:17-21, in those words is clear His stand in homosexuality, see also Romans chap. 1, Paul explain with details the process of homosexuality:They REJECT GOD, see also II Corinthians chapter 6, also Revelation. God created Man and Woman, nothing between, that's a Biblical Statement, period.

      • dblhelixman

It is “himself” or “herself” dear. “Person” is a singular objective pronoun in your sentence. So, “themselves” does not agree with “person”. It would be like telling your son to give your daughter toy by saying “give them a toy!” But then again I guess the bigger issue is what is sacred to some of us and even though I am unsure I still pray and believe in the divine. The council of Nicaea in about 325 A.D. some argue was the first formal attempt at defining the true nature of Jesus Christ as the Son of God and establishing canonical law and the phenomenon of Easter. Some disbelievers think that that the Roman Empire, evolving into the Holy Roman Empire colluded with the bishops to create an empire that exploited the traditions of the pagans, the doctrine of the Christians and the strength of the Empire. So, it is not entirely clear exactly how accurate the Bible is because of contributors that had never know Christ or even known anyone else who had known Christ. I wonder about the supposed coming “Great Deception” and if it could be that the modern notions of Christianity are grossly mistaken or that they have their origins in an extremely advance race of extraterrestrials or ultraterrestrials or interdimensionals, all of whom might have the ability to exist outside of time and can know first hand the events of 1 A.D. and 2800 A.D. simultaneously and could therefore weave tales that are consistent, premonitive, with a modicum of archaeologically consistent evidence, etc. So, are religions developed in order to serve the interests of beings of much greater sophistication in order to manipulate us or is it the true word of the Creator or something else entirely. So, no offense but as much as I may want to believe I also respect those who do not.

        • Clinton Hennecy

I think she meant the royal “They”. Don't royals always refer to themselves in the 3rd party?
I mean he is jesus and all.

      • Sharon Hendrickson

THANK YOU for your post, Shocked. I too am shocked and tired of people mocking my Christian religion, hypocritical liberal media outlets like A&E, NBC, CBS, ad nauseum, and sarcastic, slanted articles showing up everywhere like the one authored above by Tony Maglio. He wouldn't know honest, un-opinionated journalism if it bit him in his buttocks.

        • Mary Ippolito-Winston

Every one is allowed to find a way to God – no one is making fun of Christianity, it is directed to those who, under the guise of Christianity, preach intolerance. Because I believe, as I hope you do, that Jesus is loving and tolerant that we, as humans judge one another harsher then he would. Its banging your Bible while hiding your prejudice within its pages. Merry Christmas
p.s. Christian rubrics are man made and not of God.

        • Mary Ippolito-Winston

          like fox?

Just cause you're crazy idol worship of a man distorted over the last 2000 years goes unquestioned doesn't mean we all believe your fed fantasy you probably never bothered to analyze. Btw not everyone is Christian either you nutcase egomaniac.

        • bruce Watters

You Christian haters just can't stop calling people names can you. You are so tolerant

          • Clinton Hennecy

You should realize that your religion, and any (and all) religions mean nothing to us. They are books of fiction and not even that entertaining. I find Proust to be more enlightening than most religious texts. and Proust is tediously monotonous.
You should stop bringing up your religion (or any other) as if we should for some unknown reason accept your faith as fact, instead of fantasy.
Your belief means nothing to us. It is the crutch of the weak minded whom are unable to think critically.
You're free to worship the flying spaghetti monster if you desire. Just don't expect everyone else not to laugh at you, or grant validation to your “religion”.

        • jschlue2

You are a Christophobic, bigoted hater. Why don't you go spew your hatred someplace else.

          • Clinton Hennecy

Why don't you read a book?

      • PissedoffinAZ

So, you think this is a theocracy, and people should be condemned for heresy? Move to Iran.

        • Tom

          Can americans live there?

      • Tom

You just judged! Jesus, he judged, get him lord, write it down on the gates of heaven log book. He made a biblical infraction. Say 3 hail marys and one our father and put ten bucks in the basket. Go in peace.

    • AZ54

I would be looking for some all out issues using our Lord's name to post with. He does not relate to that !

      • dblhelixman

What on earth are you saying? Did you mean you found it offensive or inappropriate for someone to post in Jesus’ name? Did your mother leave you in the car a few hours too long when you were a baby, in the hot Arizona sun? And who is “He?” Is “He” Jesus Christ? If so how would anyone of us know to whom or what Jesus would relate? Jesus was a carpenter, a Rabbi and a radical. He was not this saccharine quasi Aryan being resembling a long haired blue eyed doll who was of timid nature as is portrayed in a lot of modern Christian myth. I say myth because I do not think anyone alive really has a likely idea as to the nature of Jesus 2000 years ago. Ancient scrolls do not paint this saccharine nature of Jesus. He challenged authority and threw the money changers out of the temple. In short, I don't think anyone really definitively knows Jesus and as many Christians stress the relationship with Christ is a personal one and what is sacred for some would be profane for others. Maybe this person so admires Jesus his utmost desire is to be as Christ like as possible without bearing false witness. And there is also the outside possibility – however remote – that Christ is returned right now the second time for some and the first time for those who are Jewish.

        • AZ54

No I did not find it offensive, inappropriate, maybe.Left in the car to long ,no. Mocking Him by posting in His name. Not wise. What he is portrayed as is irrelevant. my Faith is in Him not in an image of some type on a canvas. I do have a relationship with Christ. One I hope gets closer as time goes on, profane to others, that is their choice. Admire Him but do not use His name in such a manner . That is not Christ like. And finally, there is no possibility that he has returned yet, though the time is near. . When he next appears the dead in Christ shall rise, then we that believe in him shall be taken in the blink of an eye. Those of us who know the Bible at least a little know that is followed by seven years of Tribulation. Not many in this time will see the Kingdom of God. Then Christ will return so that all will see Him and their Judgement will come shortly after. You are entitled to your beliefs,as are we that believe in Him. And as a Christian I will say that you are in our Prayers.

          • Melissa Ford Showalter

Let me say this. There are many people that truly are caring, compassionate and loving. I would not insult or belittle them for their beliefs. It's called respect. It goes both ways. They don't try to save me for not sharing their beliefs, and they don't judge. A true Christian is not going to judge or point fingers.

        • Tom

Holy smokes, this is a short story.

    • Robotrue

Ok, you made the statement, now back it up. Document when and where Sarah Palin has made intolerant statements. Do you know what a reality show is? It is a place where people make their opinions known! What A&E is saying is this: “We want you to star in a reality show, just don't tell anyone what you think!” Hypocrites. But, forget that, he didn't even make the statement on the show. A&E is punishing him for exercising his Constitutional guarantee of freedom of speech outside the workplace. It is illegal to discriminate on the basis of race, religion, creed or color, and that is exactly what A&E did. The fact is that GLADD and others are actively engaged in censoring free speech they don't like. Not disagreeing with it, but squelching it so that no opinion is allowed but theirs. Case in point Chick-Fil-A. It didn't work there, and it won't work for Robertson. .

      • PiscesDan

what ever side you are on here is one thing, but Sarah Palin is a hating judgemental woman and you have to be kidding me name a statement and back it up……I don't have enough time or space on here to list it all. She is not an intelligent person and hides behind her faith. She is not kind, tolerent, compassionate and reallt only cares about herself, people that think just like she does and goes after the almighty dollar. This IS NOT about free speech….he WORKS for someone and since THEY pay him his “free speech” is gone…..it says so in his contract.

    • ewe

Remember that lesbian friend Sarah palin said she had but never existed? Palin is a disgusting charlatan.

  • tawnhal

Regardless if we like his comments or not he has the right to say what he believes in as does everyone else. I don't agree but everyone has the right, its called FREEDOM. AMEN

    • guest

so do I and you are an idiot.

      • tawnhal

Why is that because i believe in freedom of speech…yes you too have that right sadly !!

        • tawnhal

Nothing intelligent to say except name calling Id use quest as a name too to hide behind

      • Mary Ippolito-Winston

I agree with tawnhal – everyone has a right to say whatever they want and those who are quick to name call do it because they cannot get everyone to believe the way they do – its fear

        • cyclingjnkee

Your right, and people have the right to publicly disagree with what you say. It's called a debate, something we celebrate come election time. As with Robertson, if you are going to make statements that others will disagree with, be prepared to defend your position. Don't whine because others are disagreeing with you. I find that the people like you that complain that their right to free speech is being infringed upon don't understand what that right means.

          • Agnomad74

cycling – you keep bringing up “debate”, but you're failing to realize that the bulk of Roberson's supporters have never been exposed to the concept, because “it says so in the Bible” has been a trump card played against coherent thought for centuries . . .

          • dblhelixman

Oh my goodness. You are really stretching minds here. This is not the book club. I do admire your optimism and faith in humanity though. Of course your comment is not lost on me and it one with which I agree, wholeheartedly. The rhyme was done unintentionally!

        • PissedoffinAZ

The people using fear are the religious NJ's.
“Believe as we do or you will burn in hell.”
“Faith or fear, take your choice.”
I chose neither. So do many others, and that pisses off those like Robertson who need the submissive agreement of others to feed their own insecurities.
Alert: God created many different types of people to teach tolerance. Some Christians have a lot to learn.

          • Whitey

I just got it! Your a fag!

        • Clinton Hennecy

          You mean like Phil Robertson?

          • Mary Ippolito-Winston

Exactly! But as I said he has a right to speak as he wants –he's allowed I don't like what he says but If I bitch and moan and tell him not to speak his mind, I would be as bad as the right is.

          • Clinton Hennecy

            See, here's a perfect reason.
You need to let idiots know, that they're idiots.
If you don't, if you just let them keep on being an idiot, and don't let them (and the world) know that they're idiots, then all of the other idiots out there will believe that idiots are not idiots.
            Does that make sense?
            See it's like this…
A guy lies to you. No one tells you that it's a lie. If the subject matter is unknown to you, you may not question the lies.
            Still with me?
            Okay.
So now a bunch of like minded idiots get together. They start lying en-masse to the people that have no knowledge of the subject matter.
People that DO have knowledge of the subject matter, must point out to the uninformed, that these are lies.
            Still there?
Okay now let's say that the first idiot is… oh I don't know… let's say the President of the United States.
Let's say the subject matter is… oh… weapons of mass destruction.
Never let an idiot make idiocy normal. It screws up the system.

          • Mary Ippolito-Winston

Yes, I agree with you totally! Just by the very fact that you question – the idiots don't question! The idiots are like lemmings and if the right says “over the cliff and you will live” they jump never saying “Oh, wait, maybe I will hurt myself and die because thats a steep cliff”…..what do you think?

          • Clinton Hennecy

Totally, except that there are idiots of all stripes.
It just seems that lately, for the most part they seem to be on the right politically.

          • Mary Ippolito-Winston

And they are all so angry – spitting venom angry.

          • Clinton Hennecy

            Yeah.
I have to admit though that sometimes I really like to poke them with a stick so that they go off posting stupid stuff with no basis in fact. Just so everyone can see how uninformed and full of bigotry they can be.
Kind of fun, don't you think?

    • Beany Babe Dethsquad

He does have freedom of speech. He's not going to jail for what he said. He's being suspended (not even fired) from one of his jobs, probably for violating a clause in his contract about saying things in the media that would attract negative publicity towards the network. They have a right to protect themselves from that sort of thing. Free speech is not speech free from any consequences, it's just speech that isn't restricted by the government.

      • tawnhal

It is apparent that these days if you choose to disagree or have another way of looking at things then others you are quickly ridiculed. And many times unjustly by people who have NO idea the whole story. Many stories on the news stations are politically driven, half truths or just out and out lies. This story is no different it was a set up from the start so who knows really.

        • Beany Babe Dethsquad

What you're describing is not a new thing. It's a new thing for white heterosexual Christians. And now that it's happening to them, it's horrible and wrong.

          • cyclingjnkee

I agree, the first amendment doesn't protect your employment. If you want to test this, go into work and start tossing racial slurs at your minority coworkers and see how long you stay employed. Mr. Robertson has the right to say whatever he wants to say without fear of persecution by the government. Likewise, A&E has the right to cut him loose if they want to. The first amendment also doesn't remove other people's first amendment rights to publicly disagree with what you say. Why is this concept so difficult for people to understand? Go look up the word “debate” in the dictionary.

          • Beany Babe Dethsquad

Or for that matter go into your workplace and say that Christians are all idiots and that Christianity is responsible for most of the evil that's occurred during the last 2000 years. Insult any group of people in a place where you're representing your employer and you're going to face consequences, no matter how “true” it is to you.

          • dblhelixman

            You've read these posts and you need to ask that question? I agree with you wholeheartedly and am merely pointing out the lack of basic writing skills in many of these posts;

          • PissedoffinAZ

Yep, Beany, just like job discrimination was no problem until the white males suddenly no longer had their quota system. (100% of jobs go to white men, unless we need more help. Then we will use minorities and women.)

          • Whitey

Are you kidding? This country has gone to the crapper because jobs have started to be given to people because of their race and not their ability. You sound like one of the problems! Enjoy your free Heath care and food stamps!

          • tawnhal

I wasnt saying a particular news station or subject matter it was In general. You assume a lot about everything..Its interesting how so many go on and on about a subject and how horrible it is and judge everyone who says anything but yet you do EXACTLY the same thing to them..funny how that works. The hypocrisy is AMAZING! !

          • Melissa Ford Showalter

No kidding and some people don't understand that. I am white and heterosexual but if you tried to push your religious dogma down my throat where we were both employed, I would be in HR filing a complaint!

        • PissedoffinAZ

“Many stories on the news stations are politically driven, half truths or just out and out lies.”
So you ARE talking about FAUX, correct?

        • dblhelixman

If only I had the time and space to dissect this grammatical nightmare. Go back to school dear and learn to express yourself in standard English. I felt like I was reading an assembly instruction set translated from Thai into English when I read your response. I will give you some clues though. The first sentence you should have used “than.” The second sentence is not a sentence because God only knows what the subject is and forget the verb. The third sentence is commonly referred to as a “run on” sentence. It is actually two sentences in one. It could have been stated “This story is no different. It was a set up from the start for no apparent reason.” Please go back to school and take a basic writing course dear. It will help you communicate so much more clearly and then perhaps we can understand your ideas.

        • Clinton Hennecy

You mean like Phil Robertson ridiculed people he doesn't agree with, or that see things differently than he does?

      • dblhelixman

Now you I can agree with and pardon the dangling preposition. Your heart and mind get it. It is too bad that some of the others don't.

      • Robotrue

The problem, Beany, is that is a reality show, you are SUSPOSED to have controversial opinions! The network has every right to say it does not endorse Robertson's view, but they do not have the right to fire him based upon his religious beliefs. That violates federal law which protects citizens from being discriminated against because of race, religion, creed or color. But this is what GLADD does, attempts to squelch free speech and differing opinions. Remember Chick-Fil-A? The viewers of A&E are perfectly capable of rejecting what Robertson said by not tuning in to the show. Just as the “terrorist” tactics of GLADD failed with Chick-Fil-A, so A&E is now finding itself embroiled in a backlash they probably didn't believe would happen. You see, I supported Chick-Fil-A and Robertson, not because I agree with what they said, but because I believe a person should be able to voice an opinion without fear of losing his livelihood just because someone doesn't like what someone else said.

        • tawnhal

You are exactly right. We don't have to agree but they do have the right even if we disagree. People should think before they speak or write things that are hurtful to others.

          • Clinton Hennecy

            You mean like Phil Robertson?

        • Melissa Ford Showalter

If he had said it on the show, A&E maybe could have posted a disclaimer or deleted it. As the “star” of DD (and you know that was the reason he was being interviewed by GQ) A&E wanted no part of his inflammatory rant. Face it, A&E made him famous and the can make it unfamous. “Never bite the hand that feeds you”.

    • dblhelixman

Indeed he does have the right. He does not however have the right to breach any contractual obligations without consequence. Let me make it clearer for you. When you are behind the parts counter and somebody comes in for an air filter you would probably be reprimanded at the very least were you to say “we ain't got no f*&kin’ err filters.” Do not mistake free speech with contractually agreed upon standards and practices.

  • leroe

The people of the whorld was getting bored watching the Robertson getting richer. So A&E came up with away to regain there watching statues.

    • i got you

I agree its all about money he also made a comment about greedy people what are they doing with there millions do they pay there workers agood wage you don't think they work for a living now do you every place you go they have a stand of items for sale a reality show is a show read and edited not live it is agood family show but a show it is read between the lines its about money like all the others I don't watch it no more it is kind of a goofy show like a good comic like the black panther one who in there right mind would get down on all fours on tv show unless you got paid for it reality for money

  • debiannj

Sarah Palin, poster child for intolerance, and hatred, has once again bumbled into the frey. Sarah, Phil Robertson was doing just fine without you and he will do just fine without you in the future. He released a statement after the interview drew criticism that said that he would NEVER advocate judging anyone because that's God's job. He was asked his opinion, and he gave it. For anyone who watches Duck Dynasty, they know how Phil speaks, and they know he refers to “manly” and “womanly” things, so it's not a far stretch to know he doesn't approve of the Gay lifestyle – but if you watched the episode where the Pet Photographer comes to the house, you can see that he has disdain for the man because he acts like a “yuppie” and it's more than the fact that he is from the city. But during the shoot, he doesn't treat the guy bad, and he has respect for the guy. I don't think he was comparing homosexuality to bestiality, any more than he was comparing sleeping with other women or men as similar to bestiality. It's obvious he doesn't like it, and he doesn't understand it, but he's not judging them – that's God's job. He also isn't advocating racism when he says that the blacks he worked with before Duck Commander weren't complaining to him about whites – most of the time, they didn't complain because there wasn't anything they could do to change the situation, so they didn't complain.

    • dblhelixman

Perhaps they did not complain out of fear of being taken out behind the shed and beaten. This is apologist to the hilt. First of all, “gay” or “homosexual” is not a “lifestyle” anymore than “straight” or “heterosexual.” It is also not a “choice.” Do you honestly think someone would choose to live in a society subsidizing EVERYTHING in that society (family medical care, education etc.) without partnership and spousal inheritance rights (which are changing), being the subjects of ridicule, hatred, mockery when doing nothing to affront the majority? So, by saying it is God's place to judge that makes it okay to say “well there's a Hispanic way of doing things and a white way of doing things but it's God's place to judge?” The ironic thing is most gay people I know would walk into a room full of hillbillies and provided they were not struck by a glass object, would join in the party and accept the hillbillies. Surely some would be rude but many would be grateful just to be treated normally. When have you seen Anderson Cooper call a straight guy a “breeder” on television. Yes, we all have freedom of speech and I honor your's even though I disagree with some of it. The thing that is most troublesome to me is these things are all sideshows to keep our eyes off our real foes and the real issues at hand. I would bet that if the Duck guy saw a gay man or Lesbian screaming for help he would react like a human being and respond and not let that person drown or be beaten to death. And I would respond to someone in need the same way no matter his or her politics. My posts before have been sarcastic mainly to try to be funny and I probably went way too far. But if I saw any person on this forum, even Duck daddy or Sarah Palin in distress I would help that person. I could never live with myself otherwise. And I am one of those east coast over educated city boys that has frequently been the brunt of jokes by others for no reason other than I am different – a nerd – an academic. But what we share is greater than our differences and that is that we are all human. And the powers that be have divided us so easily by using wedge issues like sex, race, gender identity, so we don't look at the big and really nasty agenda they have going. This is the agenda that is killing our young men and women in senseless wars that are only for the benefit of the war industry. There are effective treatments for various diseases that we will not ever know because the pharmaceutical companies profit handsomely off our illnesses. So, I hope we can all shake hands and see the tiger in the room and it is not a gay person or a white person or a black person or a latina/latino person, etc. It is the power elite who call us the “sheeple” and “useless eaters.” You should watch an interview of Maurice Hilleman who was chief virologist at Merck in the 90's. Merck allegedly knew the Sabin (I know Salk invented it) vaccing cultured on monkey renal tissue was contaminated with a cancer causing virus, SV40. Yet clinical trials were performed in Russia and the joke going around the lab was that the Russians would win no medals in the next Olympics because they would all be weighed down with tumors. The interviewers laughed at this. This to me is a disgrace and subhuman. 98 million doses of that vaccine were dispensed and the majority of those doses went to us, our children and perhaps some of our grandchildren. 80 percent of certain malignant tumors contain the SV40 virus. Does this sound like it is plausible that a cancer epidemic was engineered so that the pharmaceutical industry could profit? This is where we need to direct our attention as well as what our country has done allegedly in the name of freedom and democracy throughout the world. We have alienated so many by marching in and killing their people. Where were the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? What were we really after? I know, but you would not believe me so I am not going to say. Hundreds of thousands of men, women and children were senselessly brutalized and killed and many American men and women of honor were also tragically killed. Why? We need to stop fighting each other, our brothers and sisters on this planet and identify who are the real enemies. Sorry to go on but this just kind of rolled out. Peace and happy holidays to you all, no matter what your beliefs are.

  • Phyllis Burgess

another attack by what in my upcoming book…..by what I term…the gay mafia…ZIPPER GATE attack…..that is the hateful ones who allude to being stabbed in the back by anyone who does not agree with them. …for instance: in Palm Springs..we have TANSEY..a gay attorney who recently wrote a terrible HIT PIECE against a local elderly couple in their 90's…Now, mind you, this couple sponsors gay films, in their local theatre, the
CAMELOT…yet TANSEY tracked their giving.. of $100 to Prop 8…and fairly crucified them in our local newspaper. Please see articles and read the local blogs attached in my facebook timeline… Yet…earlier on this TANSEY was the attorney for 19 men having sex in front yards in our WARM SANDS neighborhood (a known gay cruising area). Of course…the news media never ties this debacle in with the fact..in Palm Springs we are in EPEDEMIC stages of HIV…..67% more than any place in the nation. GO FIGURE.

Im sure this DUCK DUDE has gay friends who know he loves their soul …and speaks candidly from a heart of compassion…Lets hear it from some of his gay friends in the industry….

    • sugacookie

Shame. While the media shoves gay this and that down the throats of the masses…. gay marriage lol and shows like glee and degrassi that my kids can not watch seem to spew their opinions everywhere. You watch it or you Dont .I'm tired of the poor fragile gays crying against any opposition and crucifying any one who opposes. This show has family value and is different from all others as I was raised in the southern bible belt and appreciate the clean humor and moral honesty. Good for Phil standing up for his rights.

      • J.D. Contrereas

Did you just wake up from a frozen sleep “Sugacookie?” I do agree that “Gay” people shouldn't be so aggressive with their beliefs through the media, but I also agree that people who bash them make you no different. The younger millennia is highly more educated than you are! WE ARE THE NEXT GENERATION. MOST of us don't even care! We don't have problems with gay people. Are you going to resort to posting racist remarks about Black, Asian & Hispanic people too, for eating chicken on T.V., Asian people liking Mc.Donalds, or how about the Dr. Pepper Ad with “Pitbull” the Hispanic rapper drinking & promoting their products? Or even a simple T.V. ad that has a biracial couple giving a little girl cheerios. Oh my goodness. You NEED to go back to school and stop living in the past. For what it's worth, I actually like “Phil”. STOP HATING.

    • theoneandonlyone

A few years ago a number of firemen were sent home without pay for refusing to drive a truck in a gay pride parade because the year before they were accosted by a bunch of gays trying to grop them, the city council is all Gay but they can't stand anyone with a different idea than theirs.

      • Crz

A few years ago. Somewhere in the world. This city council that existed at some time and some place is cause for denigrating an entire population of people. Do you know that there was this one Christian guy one time who committed murder? Is that proof that they are all hypocrites?

    • Gray Grammy

Thank you! He was quoting the Bible, a book which most of my gay friends are very familiar with and by which a lot of them live. My gay friends are very dear to me, I would defend any of them in a war, stand up for them against intolerance, and love them as brothers and sisters, just as they love good o'le heterosexual me. I am not privy to God's mind, and to my knowledge, no one on the face of this planet is. Therefore, no one on the face of this planet has the right to judge another; simply believe in the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have done unto you. God will be their judge; just as he will be yours. So careful all of you judging Phil's statement, or the activist's response. For the Bible also says, “Judge not lest ye be judged.” And if A&E is stupid enough to give up their main attention grabbing, most viewed program, let them. These guys will be picked up, and quickly, by someone else. This whole thing is blown wayyyyy out of proportion by a bunch of radicals. I rest my case, and I've said my piece.

      • Clinton Hennecy

Phil's done his share of judging, believe me.

        Not!

      • tawnhal

        No kidding…Holy cow the Radicals!!!

  • chalijo

How can we censor Sarah Palin?

    • Datawungui

You figure that out and the world will be a better place. Just censor everything she says that isn't backed up by fact, hypocrisy, hate, or with the intent of using it as a stepping stone to further her agenda.

    • theoneandonlyone

You're the one she frightened little man.

      • chalijo

She doesn't frighten me; she disgusts me.

    • Melissa Ford Showalter

I think Martin Bashir had an idea, maybe we should ask him.

    • ellyte

Is there something about ,”I can see Russia from here,” you want to censor?. She's too cute to censor and a bright young woman. From a bright old woman.

      • chalijo

If you want to follow a quitter be my guest. She's a shallow, race bait'er to a lot of people. If you can't see this, pity on you and all who think as you do.

  • Heap of truth

What if it turns out that GOD is gay? Jesus said equality for all men. He never said; “Not that guy, he is gay and has a different skin color, Not that woman, she is lesbian and not those people they have a different religion.”

    • Rebecca Perez-Stewart Stewart

When you realize that God is no gender, then human's have the ability of allowing and excepting Holy spirit to work from the inside out.
I had a experience with the homosexual community in Palm Springs, at Kaplan college, owned by Washington Post, and this community yes, has their rights, as those of us not, homosexual have more rights it seems!
Their Director of Education at this college, rewarded his staff member, the position of Director of the massage department on Dec. 7th 2012, after staff member ended up attempting suicide which landed her in the hospital, we were then working cause she was out of commission in October. By the way this person hadn't been in the field more then 3 years—She was our student prior, to her being hired to teach.
Where is ethical behavior in all this, and honor towards mankind.
Phil has done nothing wrong and, he must have the same boss we had!

  • DW

Read the Bible, God will forgive, but you need to confess you sins and repent.
    On Homosexuality:
    Lev. 18:22, Lev. 20:13, 1 Cor. 6:9-10 and Rom 1:26-28.
I you are not a believer, may God help you.

    • Heap of truth

Maybe it should read: “If you are not a believer,God may help you.” instead of may God help you. God may help you is more positive that the shaming of “,,,may God help you.” That line is so final to the other being more positive.

      • tawnhal

        Excellent comment

    • True Christian

In Romans text, you left out a couple of very key verses. Rom 1:24-25 .the reason! and also notice in verse 28 God gave them over to a reprobate mind…. that is the reason why they cannot enter into the Kingdom of God… they see nothing wrong with what they're doing

    • Clinton Hennecy

So, are you Jewish, or Paulian?
Cause it ain't nowhere in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

      • Agnomad74

Clinton – EXACTLY! All these “Christians” breaking out the abominations of Leviticus to support their bigotry – here's a news flash, folks. The New Testament (the life of Jesus Christ, the focus of worship of your religion) completely supplanted the Old Testament. If you're living your life based on the strictures and rules of the Old Testament, don't call yourself a Christian, because you're not. You're a Jew with identity issues.
“Love thy neighbor as thyself” was the message of Christ, and the entire point of his teaching, life, and sacrifice. If you missed that, you're no Christian. Do some self searching.

  • roguermt

Everyone is so focused on the comments Phil made on gays that they are completely overlooking the comments he made on JIM CROW LAWS. Mrs. Palin, if you want to talk about HATE maybe you should spend time reading about the atrocities committed against blacks under those laws. Phil Robertson is an advocate of Jim Crow and makes it sound as if it was one big PARTY. If they are going to ban him from TV, maybe there should be more discussion about those comments.

  • john

I love how you can just put a dash in the middle of someone's quote so that it can be taken completely out of context. Isn't it great how the media always puts a spin on these kinds of stories. There must not be any real news to discuss so you have to twist and bash a human beings opinions.

    • john

ps I can't stand Sarah Palin, I think shes a media hog and a quitter. I also think that the LGBT needs to stop being so sensitive (or that the media stops portraying them and being so sensitive because a few of my gay friends couldn't care less about what somebody says about lifestyle choices)

      • tawnhal

        I agree..,.well put

  • Fed up

I have not seen any complaints from the thieves , cheaters or people committing bestiality offended because they were lumped in with the homosexuals. Just saying.

  • Frank Mockery

Divinely delusional deity devotees & self-righteous simpletons are the root of all evil & are solely responsible for most of the strife facing mankind for tens of centuries !!! We have religious freedom in this country & that means that I've got the right to say that anyone who believes in such mythology is just another smug, condescending & gullible troublemaker trying to foist their preposterous faith on those who know better !!! As far as I'm concerned they can all go to hell, but then again if such a place really existed wouldn't scientists have applied for a government grant to look for it by now ? Of course not because anyone doing so would be ridiculed as an incompetent boob !!!

    • tawnhal

Wow,,.your not judgmental at all do you need a drink

      • Frank Mockery

No thanks, although it appears that you've already drank the Kool-Aid & swallowed enough religious malarkey for at least two people !!!

    • john

What an appropriate name you have, because quite FRANKly you seem to just MOCK others for having their own opinions and beliefs rather than have some of your own. It also appears that you mistake freedom OF religion with freedom FROM religion you sad ignorant soul. It must be hard to live filled with so much anger and hatred

      • Agnomad74

John – Freedom of religion implies freedom from religion, should you not believe in religion. Dolt. Maybe your invisible sky daddy can teach you critical thought. HA!!!

        • Mike

what a sad life you must live with no belief in anything after your short life on this planet. If you want to bash people for believing that there's more to this world than I pity you

          • Clinton Hennecy

And if you believed that this “short life” was all you got, maybe you would have more respect for others, the environment etc.
            But I doubt it.

        • ellyte

You just reminded me! It's not freedom from religion, but freedom of religion. Thank goodness. You can practice your non-religion without laws. It's like freedom to be quiet. But say,
“Jesus,” and employers fire you and college deans say they are going to kick you out of college. Both actually happened to me. And say, “Jesus saved everyone; they just don't know it,” and you get everyone mad at you.

          • Clinton Hennecy

            No it's both.

It's called the establishment clause for a reason.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an ESTABLISHMENT of religion ” it's then followed immediately by the Free Exercise clause ” or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”.
I also tend to agree that anyone that suggests or proposes that “their” religion is the only one, and that absolutely EVERYONE should follow it, deserves no respect.
            Get it?
“respecting an establishment of religion”, no respect… oh, never mind.

            Want to buy a clue?

      • Frank Mockery

Frisbeeterians believe that when you die your soul goes up on the roof & it never comes down, which is just as implausible an idea as your heaven & hell fallacy !!! On the other hand you've got the only savior who can use his hand for a whistle !!! Now who's sad & ignorant you Iron Age idol worshipper ???

  • who cares

Everyone should just leave the ignorant redneck alone and let him hunt beavers.

I sure do like the fact that this bimbo is the voice of the moronic republiCON party.
Nothing better than listening to idiots blather on about rights and morals based on fairy tales.
Where were all of the moronic republiCONs when all of those little boys were being molested by Catholic's?
When you combine their affinity for fairy tales, its easy to see why they keep electing half wits like raygun and bush crime family members.
Personally, I think people that express such opinions about the “gay” lifestyle are actually gay themselves.
Just like most “catholics” and other religious fanatics.
    Please, just go away.

Really? You appear to me to be a racist republiCON palin supporter but I don't go around making judgments like that based on a couple of sentences.
        Just saying.
Maybe you are another dim wit that bases their life on fairy tales.

I love everyone, we are all GODS children….Can I get an amen for freedom of speech

    • tawnhal

      AMEN,,

      Amen brother.

    • Tracy Brown

Amen to freedom of speech. Each of us belongs to God, and even if we have weaknesses, he is able to make us stand and to justify us. We answer to God, and not to each other. We are not to judge one another in critical way. I love everyone also.

Sarah Palin is just trying to keep her mug in the news. She is a media whore

    • ellyte

Sarah is not employed by the news. They seek her opinion out.

Phil appears to me as the type of man that will walk away and say goodbye to this whole mess. I've watched the show and he does not seem like the man who wants this type of attention and can take or leave it as he wants. He is happy, happy, happy with his life with or without the cameras.

What happened to freedom of speech? I guess its ok untill somebasterd dosen't like it, then its not freedom of our speech.

    • Clinton Hennecy

      Is he in jail?
Is he being prosecuted for what he said?
if the answer to those 2 questions is no, then his right to free speech has not been abridged.

      • billy

Sure it has Clinton, unless A&E had something in his contract that stated he wasn't allowed to express his opinion on certain subjects, and I seriously doubt there was considering what I have heard an seen on the show, the A&E has violated his freedom of speech and should be held accountable. I hope he sues them and wins.

        • Clinton Hennecy

Only the government can violate your freedom of speech.
I don't know what's so hard to understand about that.
The government can't just force you to take a urine test for no reason whatsoever. The people you work for however can.
The freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution are to prevent the government from infringing them, not other people or your employers.
Your employer cannot discriminate based on religion (or lack) that you choose to follow in your personal life.
If you want to preach at work, they have every right to discipline you.
If you work for a company that makes condoms, and want to publicly preach abstinence, your employer can fire you for harming their brand.
Heck, people get fired every day for what they put on Facebook pages.

  • Clinton Hennecy

Does anyone other than me find it not only ironic, but a little disingenuous that she refers to people being “intolerant” when they don't accept someone else being intolerant of gays?

  • ellyte

Why is this Duck guy singled out? Are you going to try to get every script writer and producer of movies fired? I see many present and past movies and TV series where people act insulted by being mistaken as homosexuals. This is the script written for them. Then lines are written where straight guys have to act like homosexuality is cute. Mr. Robertson could sue for millions because he was specifically fired over his religious beliefs, sex, and speech. He's being discriminated against because he doesn't believe or teach that homosexual acts, bestiality, adultery, etc. are good. There isn't any such thing as a person being born a homosexual. You are either male or female. What you do with your body is a choice, right or wrong. One is not a true friend if you condone what hurts another. But one should be humble about teaching, not prideful, because we aren't perfect in ourselves, only through Jesus, our substitute, The Lamb of God. But knowing God loves us all does promote right choices. I believe someone convinced the homosexual-acting person it was okay somewhere along the line by tricking him or her. Where do you think it was learned from in the first place? All can be traced back to an abuser, movies, magazines and in recent years I hear, even taught in school books.

    • Clinton Hennecy

He can sue for millions all he wants. Doesn't mean he'll win, because he won't.

    • Melissa Ford Showalter

His employer, A&E doesn't agree with his views.

    • Clinton Hennecy

He can sue for millions all he wants. He won't win.

  • punkn_pie

People are demonizing Phil. It's horrible. The things he is saying are directly from the Bible – whether you choose to believe them or not – they ARE from the Bible.
    Romans 1:21 – 32 NLT

21Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. 22Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. 23And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.

24So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. 25They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. 26That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. 27And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.

28Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. 29Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. 30They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. 31They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. 32They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.

    • Agnomad74

punkn – To someone who doesn't share your belief system, using this as an argument to excuse bigotry toward fellow human beings means nothing. As a matter of fact, it's kind of alarming that so many can mistreat and belittle and demonize their fellow man and then use quotes from this book as justification.
Try this. The important parts of this book, the parts your religion is based on, are all in the last quarter of the book. They're printed in red.

      • Clinton Hennecy

        1st four books. The Gospels.
Since the Old Testament is for the Jewish people, I only consider the New Testament as the Bible for Christians, and only the first four books actually discuss the teachings of Jesus.

    • Andrew

That is a very poor translation. It's sad that mankind is continually re-writing the bible now to suit their own views of society, Words that never existed in Old/New testament times are suddenly popping up.

    • Clinton Hennecy

      So… you're a Paulian.
      Personally, I'm a Christian.
That Paul guy preached too much hate and derision.

  • Niel

The right-wing is all upset over this guy getting tossed for saying something. I guess they've forgotten the Dixie Chicks and how they boycotted them for saying something.

  • PissedoffinAZ

Funny, I thought the intolerance came from the Duck Dynastwyt. Nobody is stopping the jerk from making his free-speech comments, Sarah. We just don't want to watch his show or buy his DD goods anymore. Isn't it funny how avarice is the only sin they seem totally down with?

    • ellyte

I think they fired him for preaching in 2010 to what appears to be a church group and he merely quoted from the Bible, the most read book in the world. Why did they wait until now to fire him is the question. A little strange isn't it? I've read those verses before, and they have been read by pastors in Churches all over the world, plus Bible Study groups, at home, in the park, in restaurants, hotels, on retreats, by evangelists to thousands, etc. In the past it was against the law to practice homosexuality in the USA. Now they are practicing a moment of silence instead of praying an uplifting prayer. Yuk! Freedom not to say anything. Everybody is afraid of something. I don't know what. I want everyone to be free to say Jesus, Lord, Our Father in Heaven, Holy Spirit anywhere anytime without feeling intimidated. God loves everyone and everyone is forgiven through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit has been poured out on all and they don't know it. All they need to do is call on the Lord Jesus to know it.

    News flash! ……..
Phil Robertson is a Christian! Christians believe the gay life style is wrong! Big surprise! For thousands of years the gay life style has been wrong. The bible teaches the gay lifestyle is wrong. Jews believe the gay lifestyle is wrong. Muslims believe the gay lifestyle is wrong. The reason for this…..
    The gay lifestyle is wrong.
Does that mean we should hate gays? No, absolutely not. Wrong and hate are not the same. Hate the sin, not the person.

    • Clinton Hennecy

      Jesus never did.
The “bible” may, but the guy you claim to want to emulate never did.

    • Tracy Brown

God want us to love everyone and not to judge or be citical of anyone. The only one we have to judge is are selves. What other people do in their life is their own business.

  • Tracy Brown

I agree with Phil full heartedly about his sermom able anti-gay rights, because if God wanted man and man or women and women together in the beginning of his creation he would have made us like that . But the bible which is the word of God is against any kind of sexual immoral acts of homosexuality acts whether it be man with man or women with women this is very unclean in God's eyes. In 1 Corinthians 6: 9-12 verse from the NIV Bible. And the King James Bible also have these chapters about homosexuality: Jude 1:7 is were God destroyed the city of Sodom and Gomorrha because of their unclean ways. Leviticus 18:22 says, Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind it is abomination and another is Roman 1:27, and 2 Timothy 3:1 -3:5. I ask this question for all who believe and to the unbeliver, if the bible is so agaisnt this act why is it in the Bible so many times? Truly this world think that every one should agree with this act and is ok with it but I think it is truly wrong to away throw it up in people faces that don't believe in it. Why don't you just keep it to yourselves. If you want to be unclean so be it, God is the judge of your unclean doings.

    • Clinton Hennecy

I've asked others this and not gotten an answer…
So are you Jewish, or Paulian?
Because the gospel of Jesus Christ says none of what you just said.
You quote the Jewish bible and Paul.
What did Jesus say about it?

  • Gregg Detert

    With all this
Duck Dynasty/Phil Robertson media firestorm now taking place I have
thought of that Parkerism because I've often found if one scratches a
homophobe one finds a racist and if one scratches a racist one often
finds a homophobe. Ta-Nahesi Coates understands this – as do most
African Americans and LGBT Americans. And just as white fundamentalist
right-wing Christians used Biblical arguments to back up their racism
in the past, so do they now use them to back up their homophobia. And
just as in the past they moan about their being the victim as they seek
to victimize others who, by fighting back, refuse to play the victims
    they want us to be.

  • FG

I really think that everyone will take something different from this. We will all hear what we want to hear. I do believe in freedom of speech and that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. As pathetic as this is quote is going to sound…” With great power comes great responsibility” Why can't people just state an opinion??? There are a lot of things I do not like, but I am mindful of who I say these things around and how it will affect their opinions. If you don't agree or like gay people then say it and leave it alone. Same goes for anything else. When we all jump on the band wagon to argue, we are all just fueling a fire of anger and hatred.

  • brenda

what about all the other shows on tv .have heard the way they talk in see nothing wrong with duck dynasty i like the show what he talks about is in the bible .you folks out there pick the bible up and read it . as far as sarah palin she need just to go home i am sure phill dont need her help she need to clean her on back porch off.

  • Clinton Hennecy

This is going to come as a tremendous shock to you, Rob, but they didn't suspend him because of his religion.
They suspended him for opening his mouth in a circulated magazine interview and letting everyone know he's a bigot.
That reflects poorly on the product, as well as the company that depends upon the image of the reasonable redneck to sell ad space.
He's free to worship the god of his choice, in the manner he chooses.
    Nothing illegal here, move along.

  • serdude1968

For those who believe that Robertson's rights were violated, a simple question:

If a very well-paid host on a Christian TV network came out in favor of homosexual relationships, or even came out as a homosexual himself, and the network terminated his contract because it went against what his job responsibilities were — WOULD YOU ALL BE CLAIMING THAT THIS GUY'S “CONSTITUTIONAL” FREEDOM OF SPEECH WAS VIOLATED? Is someone OBLIGATED to give money to someone (Robertson) who is not fulfilling a contractual agreement?

Silly, silly whiners. You have every right to be angry, but stop the hypocrisy. And you conservatives who believe in “property rights” — don't you believe that the OWNERS of the network have the right to determine if someone is fulfilling the job responsibilities properly, or do you want BIG GOVERNMENT to intervene? Sure you do….on YOUR side.

Seriously, do you believe that Christians have no voice on television stations, radio stations, publications, no politicians support Christianity and it is impossible to find a church anywhere in the USA anymore? Do you REALLY believe Christians are powerless just because some liberal in the entertainment media criticize them? CRYBABIES !

So protest if you want. Boycott if you want, but stop whining….you sound worse than some of the more whiney types of liberals.

Oh, and for those who believe it is a “sin.” Okay, let's for a minute, assume that homosexuality is a sin….(of course, what IS homosexuality? Is it the behavior, or the “feelings?” Can one have the feelings without the behavior? Or the behavior without the feelings? …but okay, let's pretend it is a “sin” for a minute.)

WHY IS THAT THE SIN THAT YOU ALL ARE SO OBSESSED WITH? I mean, seriously, it doesn't even make it into the most famous, most renowned, most often posted in public places “BIG TEN” of the Thou Shalt Not Commandments. So why are there no such intense feelings about the thieves and liars (those are in the Big Ten), especially the corporate ones? Why are you so obsessed with homosexuality? So obsessed….hmmmm

Stop whining. Protest if you want but stop acting as if Christians have no rights in the USA. You look silly.

  • Tom

Anyone can cherry pick excerpts from the old and new testament or other bible musings and quote on them for condemnation of groups, lifestyles, politics, family types, etc. Example, On the one hand your'e supposed to not judge, on the other hand your supposed to strike down. The bible also writes about the age of earth, the talking bush, adam and eve. There are many things in the bible that are good and many things that let's say, may be morally questionable. That is why quoting the bible can be offensive to those that think it is mostly mythological and imaginative. Phil Robertson's comments and dismissal will spark a reaction in both camps, but there is no absolute right and wrong whether he stays or goes. It's is not a violation of free speech but a breech of contract and a companies policy standards that determine his fate with the show. All we are talking about is a job here. No criminal charge, no lawsuit, no physical injury, nothing but a second job. His duck call business isn't even affected.

  • Jim Potter

So glad to see everyone can quote Scripture so well, and don't know at all what they are saying. For crying out loud, if you read and study the situation for the comments and directions from the Bible, you will understand a whole lot more of how little you know. In both the O.T. and N.T. homesexuality is abhorrent to God! There is a lot more that He hates also, and HE says so! Yes, he created everyone and everything, but everyone and everything does not do what they, or it, was created for. His creation is perfect! However, He created mankind with a part of Him that even He cannot take away, and that's also found in Scripture – Everyone has a part of Him in them! You have a choice in life, what you want to be and what you want to do. No, He did NOT create homosexuality, alcoholics, prostitution, etc.,or bad little boys and girls. But one of His most powerful creations did. He also tells us how to live in eternity with Him and also how we live in eternity with the one who brought on all this hell. If you believe that, good, if you don't believe it, it's your CHOICE. No, there is not part of Scripture that is wrong – if you believe other wise, then you don't understand what you are reading. He wants us to mimic His life and lifestyle, be meek(?) absolutely not!! Be intolerant? Absolutely!! Judge someone, no, never, that's His job. However, He tells us to be fruit inspectors, what does that mean? Put down that Playboy mag and read His word and learn.

  • Melissa Ford Showalter

Okay, I'll play, He is not being discriminated based on his religious beliefs, he got fired for hate speech, period. If he got fired for saying I am a christian or I am an atheist then I would say it was religious discrimination. Please, read a book and preferably something other than the bible.

  • justgo

Who the Hell does Sarah Palin think she is whining about those who are intolerant to her and Robertson's hate speech? Think of all the poor Nazis who fled fallen Germany only to have to hide their racist pasts just to survive. Palin and Robertson still have their audience while their KKK brethren can't even hold a parade. Palin and Robertson have it far better than most other prejudiced losers they need to snuff their sniveling whining and appreciate how lucky they are for not actually getting what they deserve.

  • Nip

I wonder how Palin would have felt if old man Phil had blasted “retards?”

  • Anna Wooten

It is the neighborhood. People in the south who are born again christians are going to say something like that they are backwoods back woods people do not know the truth of what idi is like in the real world, Southern Baptists are the worse. So please forgive them they do not understand the modern concept as intelligent people out side of the woods.

  • Anna Wooten

Sara Palin is someone who wants to get elected. She will do or say anything to get her vote. I am not running for office. It is a for give able offense. It is old thoughts old ideas. It does not mean anything to me. Just because it is not politically correct. They are known to do things like that. My husband was from the south and he had somethings to say about homosexuality, it was anger and fear. I am more in lightened. I did not go along with his thinking. I could not change his mind. It was his up bringing. It is hard to change. The next week someone from the gay community should of been in a duck blind . It is a chance to show we are all alike no different than the next person who loves someone.

  • Lee

What Phil stated was true. Homo's are sick people.

  • davidatc

LMAO, Sara Palin is complaining about intolerant people hating intolerance. According to her, truly mature & open minded people would be more accepting of Mr. Robertson's intolerance.

  • Lib 4 Ever

    …..yup….Palin and Robertson's “hatin'” and intolerance……

  • KawikaMac

Robo— You are sadly mistaken… the Bible and ‘religious beliefs’ were used for many decades to discriminate against Black people. Fortunately the Cain & Able myth didn't stand up very well against Human Civil rights.

  • jg2013

And Robertson's comments on blacks? Any apologists looking to stand up for him on that one?

  • Socrates

Sarah Palin's truths are convenient whenever they suit her. She needs to just disappear, as her arguments are as circuitous as they are curious. It's little wonder that even John McCain (sort of) wisened up in dropping her like a hot potato(e). She is nothing more than a bigoted hypocrite, and will soon be on the runaway train to out of town like the rest of the Tea Party Express.

  • K Law

Surprise she didn't blame it on President Obama! Dumb tramp!

  • Elizabeth

Sarah Palin has the intelligence and integrity of a dung beetle.

  • K Law

People like this Robertson clown shouldn't be heard, at all. Just another dumb, ignorant, redneck jackass! There opinions are garbage because they haven't a clue about life. They say crap like this and hide behind the “I'm a christian veil”! I blame A&E for this crap because they are the ones who made this idiot and his family relevant by giving them a show and makin them in the process rich.

Shocker. whoever wrote this supports one-sidedness

The Phil Robertson's family are very smart creating an illusion and you were duped. Creating a false illusion, a TV image, but apparently not smart enough to engage his brain before his mouth or maybe not. Are you all forgetting Helen Thomas, Don Imus, Alec Baldwin, Martin Bashir, et. al. and more, who lost their jobs because they did not think first/check their brains first. This has nothing to do with free speech. I find it offensive that ‘Phil’ use the Bible to back up bigotry, hatred and divineness. He implies that because of xyz in the Bible he can say what he wants???? Are you all so narrow minded that you don't see what he has attempted to do. He is nothing but a smart aleck TV personality, “I love the Bible” so I can say what I want, ‘kretin', supporting an image created by him and his family. So people will identify with them, watch his show and buy his merchandise….so go ahead support bigotry …I do not think this is ” What Jesus would Have Done” (not).

  • Allen Christensen

The first amendment comes in to play in this whole controversy. Many cannot get into their heads that controversial and “politically incorrect” speech is protected, not polite speech. We live in a culture characterized by “group think”.

    • The Humungus

Wrong my friend. The first amendment has NOTHING to do with this. The first amendment, freedom of speech, means the GOVERNMENT can't shut you down or put you in jail for saying something they don't agree with. If a group of people boycott your product or business because they don't like what you say that's their constitutional right. If your employer fires you because your big mouth violated their written or stated policy that's their constitutional right. The first amendment has only to do with what the government can and cannot do to you, not your fellow citizens. And freedom of speech also does not mean freedom from legal and constitutional recourse, which happens quite often.

      • Allen Christensen

The federal government can and does take sides in the cultural war,
whether it be the IRS or some other agency under the headship of the
three branches of gov't. Many in high places and in positions of power
would love to get rid of the First and Second Amendments upon which the
others rest. Under the guise of some legitimate infraction, the gov't has subtle ways to “shut you down” and incarcerate you. After all, misguided or evil men (there is such a thing as evil, whether on the political left or right) can and do rise to power, or I should say, fall for it. As Earl Pitts would say, “WAKE UP AMERICA!”

If you believe in free speech then Mr. Robertson has the right to say what he said. If you believe in free speech, those that oppose what Mr. Robertson have the right to say what they said. However, the freedom of speech does not free you from the consequences of what you say. If Mr. Robertson's employers are offended by what he said they may use whatever remedies they have contractually. If others are offended by what his employers have elected to do, they may use what remedies they have, i.e. not watch A&E programming. Simple problem, simple solution.

  • JP Danna

The root of “sin” is to not have a clue of one's true identity as a universal being. It is over and above what most think of as sins. If you think the bible is a manual with a list of dos and don'ts, look deeper for the WORD within you. The bible, or any written word symbols, aren't the word of God. It only points to THE WORD within us. Nor is forgiveness what most people think it is. Forgiveness is acknowledging in others what they were given, or what they are, at the fore of Creation; even if they don't. But first that has to be seen in one's self. IT is not seen when one is judging and condemning others.

  • The Humungus

“Free speech is an endangered species.”

Freakin Palin is at it again. Apparently she knows nothing of what the first amendment means. Hey Sarah, wontcha’ try and read the Constitution before you open your big mouth for a change! Freedom of speech means the GOVERNMENT can't shut you down or put you in jail for saying something they don't agree with. If a group of people boycott your product or business because they don't like what you say that's their Constitutional right! If your employer fires you because your big mouth violated their written or stated policy that's their constitutional right! You right wing-nut-jobs blow your horn about the Constitution so much you forgot to read it and understand what it frakking means!

My grandmother said something that I will always remember. There are many paths to the top of the mountain. For someone to suggest that one religion or another is the ONLY true path to righteousness is simply misinformed and misguided. There are many ways to acknowledge and pay respect to a higher power and it is all personal. We don't all want the same food or the same job or the same mate so it would follow that the same religious beliefs would not fit everyone equally. To address statements made about homosexuality by some individuals please be aware that a sexual preference is no more a choice than one's hair or eye color or skin color for that matter.

    • godisgood8888

Nonsense. There is one God who created us and He sets the rules. It's up to seek His face and find the right path. You will burn in hell if you reject God. He hates sin because it is hate. If you hold to your sin, you hold to hate. Hell is then your just eternal dwelling place, a place you chose. of your own free will. Thing is God loves you and doesn't want you to go there. You have to repent and follow Jesus. He is the WAY>

Phil Robertson was asked for his opinion and he gave it according the Word of God. Judging? No! He was just agreeing with what God said in his word; that is called righteous judgment. We can judge according to righteous judgment. If someone comes out and admits that they are a homosexual, you can tell them what God said about it, and that is what Phil did.
Now all you Christianphobic, God hating, Jesus bashing, speach policing liberals can take the word of God or leave it, but you will be judged by it; by none othe that Jesus Christ himself at the white throne judgment. Good luck.

I like Sara Palin, but wish she would take on Obamacare and the debacle it really is. Obama lied to Americans and now there are thousands upon thousands of American who had their work place health care plans canceled, resulting in them having to be dependant on the quasi socialistic Obamacare selection plan. They will not get to keep their doctors, or have their healthcare plan like the liar Obama said. A man from the Louisiana swamps quoting the Bible is no concern to me as this monster healthcare law, which is going to increase bureaucracy and taxes, is insane because of the vast amount of Americans having to now go to the government plan to get insurance. Then there will be the shortages of healthcare professionals as the patients will have to wait longer too for health care. Do not believe Obama. He is way out in left field with a hockey stick, trying to play basketball.

  • jschlue2

I'm certainly not using the god of the gaps argument but you appear to be. You seem to assume that any event that can be explained by science automatically excludes God, and that if God didn't do something via direct action He didn't do it at all. I do not believe, however, that if science can't explain something then “God did it.”

Since you call my beliefs “fairy tales” you appear to have already made up your mind in advance as well and you are arguing from ignorance. You believe that if a proposition has not been proven, then it cannot be considered true and must therefore be considered false. The difficulty with that argument is that it ignores the fact that some true things may never be proven and some false things may never be disproved with absolute certainty. The

    • Dan Chancler

I don't believe I have ever said there is no god. I could obviously never prove that. Impirical evidence has led me to believe that a creator is highly improbable that's all. Just read over everything you've already said. It is you who speaks with certainty. You seem to be very critical or just flat out ignore the evidence that diminishes the possibility of a creator but proudly stand by the weak philosophical arguments the confirm your beliefs. This is very common in the religious community. It is completely understandable. But in my opinion, the theory of evolution/knowing the way our cosmos has evolved/knowing the timescale of events (99.99% of the universe was over before we ever showed up) is plenty of evidence for me. It might not be as comforting if looked ay wrongly but it certainly is humbling. The iron & carbon that make up our bodies can only be created in the deaths of stars. We are stardust. There, now I spoke with certainty.

      • jschlue2

How does the evidence diminish the possibility of a creator? I'm not ignoring the evidence. Every bit of evidence science collects just goes further to prove that God exists. Like I said, logic dictates that even if science can explain an event it doesn't automatically exclude God, and given the extremely small amount of the knowledge of the universe that man actually possesses you are on shaky ground to assume with even the remotest amount of certainty that the evidence diminishes the possibility of a creator.

Suppose tomorrow one of the Mars rovers uncovers a clay pot. The logical conclusion would be that an intelligent being designed and made the pot. There had to have been a creator. For anyone to assert that it just happened there by accident would be crazy. Yet, people like you look at the human body, in all it's vast complexity, and say it just came about by chance and happenstance. Talk about a fairy tale!

Science may be able to understand the physical/chemical processes of this world, but it can't explain how something impersonal like that can become personal (ie. personality, spirituality, etc..)

        • Dan Chancler

You've already admitted to being a young earther so at this point your just wasting my prrscious time under the sun. Console yourself by whatever means make you happy. Human progress (science) will continue to go on without you.

“The likelihood of the formation of life from inanimate
matter is one out of 10 to the power of 40,000…It is big enough to bury Darwin and the whole theory of evolution. There was no primeval soup, neither on this planet nor on any other, and if the beginnings of life were not random, they must therefore have been the product of purposeful intelligence.” (Sir Fredrick Hoyle, professor of astronomy, Cambridge University).

“The universe and the laws of physics seem to have been
specifically designed for us. If any one of about 40 physical qualities had more than slightly different values, life as
we know it could not exist: Either atoms would not be stable, or the wouldn’t combine into molecules, or the stars wouldn’t form the heavier elements, or the universe would collapse before life could develop, and so on…” (Stephen Hawking, Austin American Statesman, October 19, 1997).

Luther Sunderland asked evolutionists what evidence they had for their theory. The British Museum of Natural History has the largest fossil collection in the world. When the senior paleontologist (Colin Paterson) was asked why he did not show the missing links in his book he said: “I fully agree with your comments on the lack of evolutionary transitions in my book. If I knew of any, fossil or living, I would certainly have included them. I will lay it on the line – there is not one such fossil.” (Dr. Colin Paterson, Senior Paleontologist, British Museum of Natural History in
correspondence to Luther Sunderland quoted in Darwin’s Enigma 1988, p. 89).

Professor Louis Bounoure, Director of Research, National Center of Scientific Research stated: “Evolution is a fairy tail for grown-ups. This theory has helped nothing
in the progress of science. It is useless.”

“The likelihood of the formation of life from inanimate matter is one out of 10 to the power of 40,000…It is big
enough to bury Darwin and the whole theory of evolution. There was no primeval soup, neither on this planet nor on any other, and if the beginnings of life were not random, they must therefore have been the product of purposeful intelligence.” (Sir Fredrick Hoyle, professor of astronomy,
            Cambridge University).

            “In fact, evolution became in a sense a scientific religion;
almost all scientists have accepted it and many are prepared to “bend” their observations to fit in with it.” (H.S.
Lipson, Professor of Physics, University of Manchester, UK).

“I was a young man with unformed ideas. I threw out queries, suggestions, wondering all the time over everything; and to my astonishment the ideas took like
wildfire. People made a religion out of them!” (Charles Darwin on this Theory of Evolution).

“To suppose that the eye, with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest possible degree.” (Charles Darwin, The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection or The Preservation
of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life. 1859, p. 217).

“Natural section can act only on those biologic properties that already exist; it cannot create properties in order to meet adaptational needs.” (Parasitology, 6th ed. Lea
            & Febiger, p. 516).

Why is not every geological formation and every stratum full of such intermediate links? Geology assuredly does not reveal any such finely graduated organic chain; and this is the most obvious and serious objection which can be urged against the theory. (C.R. Darwin, Origin of Species, 6th edition, 1872 (London: John Murray, 1902), p. 413.)

“The absence of fossil evidence for intermediary stages has been a persistent and nagging problem for evolution.” (Dr. Stephen J. Gould, Evolution Now, p. 140, Professor at Harvard University in Boston).

  • Phil Magil

It seems Phil Robertson one of the stars of Duck Dynasty, has been suspended from the show after he criticized gays. So gay people are upset with him. Then he went on to criticize adulterers, drunks and swindlers, and now Congress is mad at him!

    • Clinton Hennecy

Now that's funny right there. I don't care who you are!

  • TerryG

I don't care what he said. It is his personal opinion and not those of everyone else around him. So A&E fired him for it. I am sure he doesn't care one way or the other. It is a good show and In my opinion he is a good man in his own way. I am so tired of the people who try to shove their beliefs and what they think is good for me. Let us live our lives our way.

  • Plain&Simple

Mr. Robertson is right homosexulaity and some of the other things he mentioned are abominations to God. What he said is biblical it is not judging. A perosn's actions condemn them. It is about time someone in a high profile capacity came out and said it in plain and simple terms – God hates the sin but loves the person. People can be delivered from their sinful lifestyles if they would only heed God's word and his call upon their lives.
In terms of his remarks being offensive to black poeple – I disagree. I am a black person and I did not find them offensive. In some ways black people were better off before integration because we had a better sense of loving and supporting one another. Our communties were stronger, we were not as selfish and our reliance on God was much stronger. It seems that we have turned our backs on those things that kept us strong and united as a people. He also indicated that as a “poor white trash” he was treated just as bad which seems to be me that he was saying that he could relate to their struggles. He indicated that they survived those difficult times becasue they relied on a common denominator which was a righteous, merciful and loving God.

Jesus did not come into the world to condemn sinners but God sent his one and only son to save the world. the only way God forgives sin is by sacrifice and the shedding of blood–Jesus is the sacrifice for all sins. his blood washes our sins away when we accept him as our Lord and Savior, asks for forgiveness, repents, and believes that Jesus was risen to heaven on the 3rd day after he was crucified. this is the only way to get to heaven. Good works and deeds don't get you to heaven–the only way is through Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.

My God don't any of you people have a life to live? I do not normally get on these sites and least of all do I post comments but this has me really questioning the intelligence of all the people here. I enjoy watching Duck Dynasty! The whole Phil Robertson thing was set up and played by that stinking reporter for that Piece of S#*T rag. That reporter knew what kind of response he would get before the question was ever asked. Just like it is there right to publish it Phil also has the right to voice his views about it. There is a little thing were still guaranteed by out fast disintegrating constitution. “It is called free speech” STFU and leave the man alone, these people were a family of luck, they took a small item and made Millions from it. That is the American Dream in it's full glory and I am sure these are real down to earth people. So what if you are called a “weeny washer” or a “lot lizard” Remember “sticks and stones”? I am so sick of all this crap. If it weren't so pitiable and rife with contradiction your post could be construed as the musings of a bigot. Instead, moron seems more appropriate. It particularly delighted me that immediately pursuant to the mysteriously quoted phrase “It is called free speech” you admonish people to “STFU” and we all know what that means. The odd thing is I agree with you about many of your points, particularly with respect to our “elected” officials. Please, you have some great ideas – just get a little help putting them down on paper to get the “their, there and they're” appropriate usages correct, among other things, otherwise you are not in any position to call another human being, including someone who is decerebrate, “stupid.”
