Scarlett Johansson Says She May Run for Office Someday (Video)

“I think it could be interesting,” “Ghost in the Shell” star tells “GMA”

After the current occupant of the White House proved that you can go from red carpets to the Oval Office without any political experience, whose to say Scarlett Johansson isn’t a legitimate candidate for public office?

In an interview with Good Morning America, the “Ghost in the Shell” star — and high-profile participant in the Women’s March — hinted at a future that could include more pancake breakfasts with constituents than exclusive Hollywood cocktail parties.

“I’ve always been interested in local politics,” Johansson told GMA host Michael Strahan. “Right now I think with my young daughter, and also as my career is going right now, it’s not the right time. But eventually, maybe if my daughter was older and I could totally focus myself on something like that, I think it could be interesting.”

Johansson was a strong supporter of Hillary Clinton, donating to a super PAC that backed her presidential candidacy, and has long been active with Planned Parenthood.

The actress hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the fifth time on March 11, portraying the president’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, in a fictional perfume commercial for her new scent, “Complicit.” She currently stars in “Ghost in the Shell,” a Paramount adaptation of a Japanese anime franchise, which hits theaters this weekend.
