Scott Rudin and HBO have ended their exclusive deal, HBO told TheWrap.
The "Social Network" producer and HBO will continue to work together on a number of projects, including "The Newsroom," on which Rudin serves as executive producer.

HBO said in a statement to TheWrap that the exclusive deal was called off so the producer would have the option to explore projects with other outlets.
“We have a number of projects with Scott," HBO said. "We are allowing Scott the flexibility to explore setting up some of the projects he brought to us elsewhere. With respect to the rest of our projects with Scott, including 'The Newsroom,' we look forward to our continued association.”
In May, HBO and the Rudin-produced pilot "The Corrections," based on the best-selling Jonathan Franzen novel, was scrapped. The pilot would have starred Ewan McGregor as Chip, the younger son of an elderly Midwestern couple trying to draw all of their children home for one last Christmas together.

Among the other projects still in play between Rudin and HBO: The comedy pilot "All Talk," which Ben Stiller is attached to star in. The pilot, written by "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" author Jonathan Safran Foer, will focus on a Jewish family living in Washington, D.C. The tone is described as "politically, religiously, culturally, intellectually and sexually irreverent."
