Scotty McCreery Botches National Anthem at World Series (Video)

Uncooperative equipment and a flubbed line conspire to ruin "American Idol" winner's big moment at the Fall Classic

Oh say can you see, Scotty McCreery screwing up "The Star-Spangled Banner"?

Sure you can — right here!

This year's "American Idol" winner took to the field at St. Louis' Busch Stadium on Wednesday to belt out the national anthem for Game 1 of the World Series. Unfortunately for the "Clear as Day" belter, a dead microphone left his rendition of the song unheard for several seconds, forcing a do-over on the tune.

That wasn't the end of McCreery's troubles; toward the end of the song, McCreery tripped up on the lyrics, singing what sounded like "No, Jose" rather than "oh say."

Maybe they should have changed the title of the song to "The Star-Mangled Banner" for the occasion?
