‘Seinfeld’ Non-Reunion Gives ‘Curb’ Biggest Crowd in Five Years

Not that there’s anything wrong with that. ‘Entourage’ also signs off with strong ratings, HBO says.

Sunday’s non-reunion reunion of the "Seinfeld" cast helped HBO’s "Curb Your Enthusiasm" soar to its best ratings in five years, HBO said Tuesday.

Counting both its original airing and same-night encore, "Curb" attracted 2.6 million viewers, the most since March 14, 2004. By comparison, the show’s season premiere averaged 1.9 million viewers, while HBO’s "Hung" (with a massive "True Blood" lead-in) notched 2.8 million viewers in June.

Meanwhile, "Entourage" ended its season strongly: Two airings of the show’s season finale brought in 3 million viewers. Counting just the 10:30 p.m. premiere showing, "Entourage" was up 21% from its last finale.

Finally, the strong performance for "Curb" boosted HBO’s new "Bored to Death" to its best numbers since premiering last month. "Bored" scored 1.5 million viewers for its two airings.
