Sen. Marco Rubio told his donors on Monday that he is running to become the next President of the United States.

The Associated Press reports the Republican from Florida dropped the news during a conference call with his biggest backers, and said he believes he is “uniquely qualified” to lead his party in the White House.

Based on his Twitter feed, which appears to be counting down the hours until Rubio makes the announcement publicly, his campaign promise will be a “new American century.”

Democratic challenger Hillary Clinton — who formally launched her campaign on Sunday — “is a leader from yesterday,” according to Rubio. America, he said, is about tomorrow.

Rubio plans on publicly rallying voters behind him at a 6 p.m. campaign launch event in Miami.
