‘Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll’s’ Elaine Hendrix, Liz Gillies Call Their Scantily Clad Characters ‘Clothes Adjacent’ (Video)

Elaine Hendrix and Liz Gillies on funniest on-set moments during new episode of TheWrap’s “Drinking With the Stars”

FX’s “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll” has plenty of all those ingredients, but it’s lighthearted and fun at the end of the day, according to stars Elaine Hendrix and Liz Gillies.

The show follows Denis Leary as washed-up rocker Johnny Rock, who’s asked by the daughter he never knew he had (Gillies) to make her famous. Rock and his girlfriend (Hendrix) intend to con the young girl out of her money, but find themselves genuinely taking her in instead.

“We think we’re just going to take her money and run,” Hendrix said during a new episode of TheWrap‘s “Drinking With the Stars.” “But no, it turns out she’s actually talented. So then we think, oh here’s our second chance. We’re just going to jump on this gravy train.”

While music is a central focus of the show, and the cast could see themselves touring as an actual bad somewhere down the line, there is plenty of (onscreen) sex and drug use too.

“Elaine and I are scantily clad from start to finish,” Gillies joked. “Clothes are like ‘ish’ with us.”

“They’re clothes adjacent,” Hendrix added.

As for drugs, the show won’t be venturing down the tragic track that many real life musicians who indulge in the vice end up on.

Watch the video to find out why things won’t get too dark, and how a Belgian tourist contributed to their funniest day on set.
