Over two minutes, the trailer paints a picture of confusion and loss, as Green goes missing from Woodley’s life, leaving her and her father to try and pick up the pieces. Woodley is seen romantically entangled with two different men, one the older police detective investigating the disappearance of her mother, played by Thomas Jane.

Meanwhile, Christopher Meloni plays her sad and desperate father who feels completely lost and abandoned.

It’s certainly not painting a picture of a happy home life. Gabourey Sidibe is the only actress who shows any joy in the film, as Woodley’s friend and confidante.

“White Bird in a Blizzard” also stars Angela Bassett, Shiloh Fernandez and Sheryl Lee. Based on the book of the same name by Laura Kasischke, it was adapted for the screen and directed by Gregg Araki, who produced it alongside Pascal Caucheteux et Sebastien Lemercier.

Magnolia Pictures will release the film to theaters on October 24.
