First-place CBS nearly doubles second-place network in viewers
“Marvel's Agents of SHIELD” tied a series low in the key demographic, days before the release of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” CBS topped Tuesday, earning nearly twice as many viewers as second-place NBC.
Disney and ABC have tried to use the Marvel series and superhero films to cross-promote one another, and a crossover episode with “Winter Soldier” is planned for next week. But the hype and anticipation surrounding the film don't appear to have paid off this week for the network, at least in the coveted 18-49 demo. (One small victory: “SHIELD” did jump 38 percent since its last episode with 12-to-17-year-olds.)
Fox's “The Mindy Project,” meanwhile, hit a series low in the 18-49 demo.
CBS was first in ratings with a 2.2 rating/7 share in the key demo and in total viewers with an average of 14.5 million, according to preliminary numbers. “NCIS” at 8 received a 2.3/8 and a 16.8 million viewers, the most total viewers of any show Tuesday. “NCIS: Los Angeles” at 9 earned a 2.4/7 and 15.2 million viewers. “Person of Interest” at 10 got a 1.9/6 and 11.5 million viewers.
NBC was second in ratings with a 2.0/6 and in viewers with 7.6 million. “The Voice” at 8 was the night's highest-rated show, with a 3.0/10 and had 11.8 million viewers. “About a Boy” at 9 earned a 2.1/6 and 7.5 million viewers. “Growing Up Fisher” at 9:30 got a 1.7/5 and 6.1 million viewers. A rerun followed.
ABC was third in ratings with a 1.3/4 and in viewers with 3.9 million. “SHIELD” at 8 received a 1.8/6 and 5.4 million viewers. “The Goldbergs” at 9 got a 1.5/4 and 4.5 million viewers. “Trophy Wife” at 9:30 had a 1.0/3 and 2.9 million viewers. A repeat followed.
Univision was fourth in ratings with a 1.1/3 and in viewers with 2.7 million.
Fox was fifth in ratings with a 0.9/3 and in total viewers with 2.3 million. “Glee” at 8 got a 0.9/3 and 2.6 million viewers. “The Mindy Project” special at 9 had a 1.0/3 — down 33 percent from its last original — and 1.9 million viewers. Another “Mindy” at 9:30 received the same numbers in its new time period for spring.
Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.5/1 and 1.3 million viewers.
The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.3/1 and in total viewers 815,000, airing repeats.
