Showtime Renews ‘Shameless’ and ‘Episodes’

William H. Macy and Matt LeBlanc series receive second seasons

William H. Macy and Matt LeBlanc have reason to rejoice.

Showtime announced on Monday that it had renewed Macy's "Shameless" and LeBlanc's "Episodes." Family drama "Shameless" received a 12-episode order for the new season, while Showtime is still determining how many new installments of "Episodes" it will order.

Both series debuted on Showtime at the beginning of this year.

David Nevins, president of entertainment for Showtime Networks, praised "Shameless" executive producer John Wells and "Episodes" creators Jeffrey Klarik and David Crane while announcing the renewals.

“The viewer loyalty and critical acclaim that has met both 'Shameless' and 'Episodes' since their January debuts makes it clear that these two brash and sophisticated series are burgeoning hits,” said Nevins.

According to Showtime, "Shameless" averages nearly four million viewers across multiple platforms. "Episodes," meanwhile, averaged nearly two million viewers across multiple platforms during its first season.
