Brolin steps into Clive Owen's role for the sequel to 2005's “Sin City,” while Mickey Rourke returns as Marv and Jessica Alba takes the stripper stage again
It's been almost a decade, but Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller have finally delivered the first footage from “Sin City” sequel, “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.”
And the town that audiences last saw on the big screen in 2005 looks as dangerous as ever.
The trailer (above) teases the return of favorites like Marv (Mickey Rourke), stripper Nancy Callahan (Jessica Alba) and Dwight — who is now played by a bruised up Josh Brolin, instead of Clive Owen. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is new to the franchise as Johnny, a gambler who beat the wrong guy in poker, and his face appears to be paying the price.
Ray Liotta (“Goodfellas”), Jeremy Piven (“Entourage”), Juno Temple (“Afternoon Delight”) and Christopher Meloni (“Law and Order”) are also newbies in the universe Miller created in graphic novel form in 1991.
“A Dame to Kill For,” written by Miller and co-directed by Rodriguez, hits theaters on Aug. 22.
