The sequel comes nine years after the original, with much of the original cast returning
Jessica Alba, Eva Green, Rosario Dawson and the other ladies of “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” get their moment to shine in the new red band trailer for Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller‘s sequel to 2005's “Sin City.”
Alba's character Nancy, in particular, has gone through a rather drastic transformation in the sequel, clearly out to avenge the death of Bruce Willis‘ John Hartigan, the police officer who died saving her life in the original film. He haunts her and tells her to give up on revenge, so of course she does the exact opposite, looking to kill Powers Boothe as the corrupt Senator Roark, the most powerful man in the state.
Meanwhile, Jamie Chung — taking over the role of Miho from Devon Aoki — is having a grand old time slicing and dicing her way through the limbs of every bad guy she comes across. Green, as the titular dame to kill for, uses her feminine wiles to control Josh Brolin as her ex lover Dwight McCarthy, under the guise of wanting to escape an abusive relationship.
And then there's Lady Gaga as a waitress, for some reason.
“Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” comes out on Aug. 22.
