Ratings: ‘2016 SNL Election Special’ Dominates Behind ‘The Voice’

ABC catches up to CBS for runner-up tie in key demo

NBC comfortably won a nervous Election Eve with the top two broadcasts on the night in the key 18-49 demographic.

“The Voice” at 8 p.m. ET scored a 2.3 rating, while the “2016 SNL Election Special” at 10 landed a 2.1.

ABC ended up second behind NBC in total viewers thanks to “Dancing With the Stars,” though the Disney-owned broadcaster tied with CBS as runner-up in the main demo.

NBC was first in ratings with a 2.2 rating/7 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 9.3 million, according to preliminary numbers. “The Voice” had a 7 share and 9.9 million viewers. The “Saturday Night Live” special got the same share and 7.9 million viewers.

ABC and CBS tied for second in ratings, both with a 1.3/4. ABC was second in total viewers with 8.6 million, CBS was third with 6.3 million.

For ABC, “DWTS” at 8 earned a 1.6/5 and 10.9 million viewers. “Conviction” at 10 received a 0.7/2 and 3.9 million viewers.

For CBS, “Kevin Can Wait” at 8 had a 1.7/6 and 7.3 million viewers. At 8:30, “Man With a Plan” got a 1.4/4 and 6.2 million viewers. At 9, “2 Broke Girls” received a 1.4/4 of its own, and 5.5 million viewers. “The Odd Couple” at 9:30 fell from there to a 1.1/3 and 5.1 million viewers. “Scorpion” at 10 put up a 1.1/4 and 6.8 million viewers.

Fox was fourth in ratings with a 1.1/4 and in viewers with 5.4 million. “Gotham” at 8 had a 1.2/4 and 3.5 million viewers. At 9, “Lucifer” got a 1.0/3 and another 3.5 million viewers.

Telemundo was fifth in ratings with a 0.7/2, but seventh in viewers with 1.68 million.

Univision and CW tied for sixth in ratings, both with a 0.6/2. Univision was fifth in total viewers with 1.80 million, CW was sixth with 1.78 million.

For CW, “Supergirl” at 8 received a 0.7/2 and 2.4 million viewers. At 9, “Jane the Virgin” had a 0.5/1 and 1.1 million viewers.
