Fred Armisen passes the torch to Pharoah in season 38 premiere
The 38th season premiere of "Saturday Night Live" began with Fred Armisen playing a Democratic functionary introducing President Barack Obama by saying he "wouldn't want his job." And with that he handed the impersonation over to Jay Pharoah after performing it since the 2008 election.
It was the first bit of housekeeping in a "SNL" episode that found the show catching up with some of the most satire-prone moments of the summer, including anti-Mitt Romney ads and Clint Eastwood's Republican National Committee dialogue with a chair.
Musical guest Frank Ocean, whose coming out in July made him one of the most talked-about artists of the summer, performed with backing from John Mayer.
