Recently launched film company Solar Pictures has tapped Amy Beecroft as its head of distribution, the company said Monday.
Beecroft, who has handled distribution for such pictures as "The King's Speech," "Sanctum" and "The Road," most recently worked at FilmNation Entertainment, as senior vice president of international sales. Prior to FilmNation, Beecroft enjoyed stints at GreeneStreet Films, HBO Films, First Look Studios and Cinemavault Releasing, Inc.
"We are excited to have Amy join the Solar Pictures team," Kearie Peak and Christopher Taylor, co-CEOs of the company, said of Beecroft's hire. "Amy will work closely with the industry's sales agents in the distribution of our films using her deep relationships in the marketplace."
Solar Pictures was formed earlier this month by Peak and Taylor, along with filmmaker and financier Bobby Paunescu and former Comerica Entertainment group manager Jared Underwood. The company plans to finance, produce and distribute four or five pictures each year for the international marketplace, ranging from small independent efforts to mid-size action films, with budgets reaching as high as $30 million.
