Sony Pictures Classics Nabs Israeli Secret Service Documentary, ‘The Gatekeepers’

Sony Pictures Classics gets all North American rights

Sony Pictures Classics has acquired all North American rights to the documentary, "The Gatekeepers."

Directed by Dror Moreh ("Sharon"), the film centers on six former heads of Israel’s domestic secret service agency, the Shin Bet, as they reflect on their service to the Middle Eastern country.  As heads of the Shin Bet, they worked closely with each Israeli prime minister, and their opinions played a key role in shaping Israeli policy during often turbulent times.

The film, a co-production between DMP Les Films du Poisson and Cinephil, is produced by Dror Moreh, Estelle Fialon and Philippa Kowarsky. The film recently premiered at the Jerusalem International Film Festival.

The deal was negotiated with Sony Pictures Classics by Philippa Kowarsky, on behalf of Cinephil Sales.
