Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group Promotes Pam Kunath to EVP, Content Strategy

She will oversee the studio’s branded content across multiple distribution mediums

Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group has promoted Screen Gems executive Pam Kunath to Executive Vice President, Content Strategy, executives from the Motion Picture Group announced on Tuesday.

Kunath will be responsible for coordinating the studio’s branded content, including all labels like Columbia, Animation and Tristar, across all of its distribution mediums. Television is not handled by the Motion Picture Group.

“We are building numerous branded franchises, from ‘Spiderman’ to ‘Ghostbusters,’ ‘Resident Evil,’ ‘Smurfs,’ ‘Hotel Transylvania,’ ‘Jumanji’ and many others, and are developing long term strategies for their transmedia exploitation,” said the Motion Picture Group’s chairman Tom Rothman.

“Pam is the perfect executive to spearhead this effort,” he continued. “She has helped build Screen Gems into one of the most nimble, profitable film operations in the business, with strong franchises that have worldwide appeal. In this new position, we will tap her considerable expertise, global perspective, and keen commercial sense to expand the depth and reach of Sony Pictures’ film franchises.”

Kunath joined Sony Pictures in 2001, working in several executive positions at the Screen Gems label. She had served as EVP and General Manager at Screen Gems since 2009, which most recently released “The Perfect Guy,” which went on to gross over $57 million domestically.
