Sony Pictures TV Promotes Canniffe to Senior VP, Alternative

He’ll work in U.S. development overseeing reality series

Sony Pictures Television has promoted James Canniffe to senior VP of U.S. development, alternative programming.

James CanniffeHolly Jacobs, executive VP of U.S. reality and syndicated programming, to whom he reports, made the announcement Tuesday.

Canniffe develops reality network and cable series for the studio, as well as syndicated programming.

His recent projects include developing new CW series "Plain Jane," "Shark Tank" for ABC, NBC's "The Sing-Off" and syndicated series "The Nate Berkus Show" and "The Dr. Oz Show," both spinoffs from "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

“Jamie has been instrumental in spearheading our network and cable reality development,” Jacobs said in a statement. “His creativity, leadership and vast production experience are invaluable to our team as we continue to make strides in the alternative programming business.”

An Emmy-nominated producer, Canniffe was co-executive producer on NBC's "The Apprentice." He also produced "Behind the Music" for VH1.
