Air Force serviceman Spencer Stone, one of the three Americans who helped foil a terrorist attack on a French train in August, was stabbed multiple times early Thursday morning at a bar in Northern California.

While details of the incident are unclear, Stone was transported to a Sacramento area hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.

The Sacramento Police Department said in a post on its Facebook page that the incident occurred around 12:46 a.m. in downtown Sacramento.

While the police department declined to confirm the identify of the man to TheWrap, the Air Force Times reported that Airman 1st Class Stone had been stabbed four times in the chest.

“It is believed that the victim was out with a group of friends when a physical altercation led to the victim being stabbed multiple times in his upper body,” the police department wrote on its Facebook page. “Detectives were called to the scene to assist with the investigation and the victim is currently being treated for what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.”

No arrests have been made as of this publication. Officials believe the assault incident is not related to a terrorist act and that alcohol is considered to be a factor.

On Aug. 22, Stone, along with Anthony Sadler, a senior at Sacramento State University and Alek Skarlatos, helped to disarm a gunman who opened fire on a train traveling from the Amsterdam to Paris.

The suspect, Ayoub El-Khazzani, 25, was carrying 270 bullets for his assault rifle and a bottle of petrol. The Moroccan’s phone showed that he had watched a jihadist video shortly before launching the attack, and prosecutors have filed formal charges against him.

Sadler, Stone and Skarlatos have since been awarded medals for their bravery.
