‘Spider-Man’ Musical Ready to Open at Last

Much delayed production will finally bow on Broadway Tuesday — can it succeed despite itself?

And we thought the day would never arrive.

Tuesday night, the Broadway run of "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" will finally get underway after a series of gravity-defying setbacks. The musical has been plagued by budget overruns; cast injuries; a shutdown and overhaul; the abrupt departure of director Julie Taymor, and a lawsuit before the show even opened.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances — and we're still gonna go ahead and hold our breaths — the musical will indeed make its debut Tuesday night at the Foxwoods Theatre. It remains to be seen whether the show will continue along its disastrous path or, like a certain budding photographer bitten by a radioactive arachnid, it find the superhuman strength to overcome its adversities.

Can "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" succeed despite itself? Share your predictions in the comments section. And make sure to stay tuned for our review of the show later this evening.
