Spike Lee will direct an HBO standup comedy special with Jerrod Carmichael produced by Funny or Die.
This will be Carmichael’s first HBO special. The actor and comedian also appears in the upcoming Seth Rogen/Zac Effron comedy “Neighbors” and IFC’s “Comedy Bang! Bang!”

The one-hour special will be taped at the Comedy Store in Hollywood on May 7 with an air date later this year, HBO programming president Michael Lombardo said.
The special is produced for HBO by Funny or Die, the network’s second collaboration with the online comedy site after the Nov. 2013 Sarah Silverman special, “We Are Miracles.”
