Stephen Colbert Measures Catholic Outrage Over Gays Marching in St. Patrick’s Day Parade (Video)

Parade organizers announced on Wednesday that a gay group would be marching in the event for the first time ever

According to Fox News, Catholic leaders were “up in arms” over the decision to allow gay groups to march in New York City’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade, but Stephen Colbert had trouble tracking down their sources.

While expressing his fake outrage during his fake conservative Comedy Central talk show on Thursday, Colbert looked to Catholic League president Bill Donahue for guidance.

“No controversy,” Colbert quoted the man as saying.

What about Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the current Archbishop of New York?

“I think the decision they made is a wise one,” Dolan, the grandmaster of the parade, said in a clip from a news conference. “I have no trouble with the decision at all.”

“I guess he’s so angry he forgot to be mad,” Colbert joked.

Parade organizers announced on Wednesday that OUT@NBCUniversal would be the first LGBT group to march up Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue on March 17 during the city’s celebration of the Catholic saint.
