Can a movie make $84 million in five days and knock off "Iron Man 3" at the box office and still be considered underwhelming?
If it’s “Star Trek Into Darkness,” the answer is yes. J.J. Abrams‘ space epic sequel failed to match the expectations of analysts and distributor Paramount, but in the big picture – the one with bigger-than-ever foreign grosses and four weeks of Imax screenings ahead – it should do fine in the long run.

What’s been missing from summer so far is a major comedy, and Warner Bros. will fill that void on Wednesday, when it releases "The Hangover III."
A film to keep an eye on is "Francis Ha," a quirky, black-and-white comedy from director Noah Baumbach and star and co-writer Greta Gerwig. It debuted with a $33,500 per-screen average in four theaters over the weekend and IFC Films plans to expand into 20 theaters this weekend.
