‘Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire’ VR Experience Lets Fans Fight Back Against the Dark Side (Video)

Groups of four will hunt for Imperial intel as undercover Stormtroopers in upcoming Disney attraction

Just days after the latest “The Last Jedi” trailer dropped, “Star Wars” fans have something else to get hyped up about: a sneak peek at the upcoming Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire” virtual reality experience.

If you’ve been daydreaming about fighting back against The Dark Side, now’s your chance.

Set to debut at Disney Springs at Disney World in Orlando on Dec. 16 and at Downtown Disney in Anaheim, California, on Jan. 5, the “hyper-reality” experience transports viewers into the “Star Wars” universe.

Working in groups of four, teams will throw on headsets and go undercover as Stormtroopers to grab “Imperial intelligence critical to our survival,” as the video preview puts it. Sounds intense.

The production is a joint venture between VR company The Void, Lucasfilm, and Industrial Light & Magic’s xLab.

“We are so excited about this magical collaboration between three boundary-pushing companies in the burgeoning out-of-home VR entertainment sector,” said Curtis Hickman, co-founder and chief creative officer at The Void. “We can’t wait to share the experience of hyper-reality with everyone.”

If the first look wasn’t enough, The Void CEO Cliff Plumer will be showing off a demo of “Secrets of the Empire” at Disney’s Studio on Wednesday. Check it out at 2:30 p.m. PST here.

And since it’s going to be a hot ticket, and because Disney is involved, you knew this wasn’t going to be a free attraction, however.

Tickets will run for a cool $29.95; you can grab them at The Void’s website if you’re planning on a holiday trip to Disney World.
