Watch 2 ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Teasers Before Big Trailer Debut During ‘Monday Night Football’ (Video)

An extended trailer will air on ESPN during halftime of game between Giants and Eagles

“Star Wars” fans won’t get another full trailer for “The Force Awakens” until “Monday Night Football” airs tonight, but Disney has released two quick teasers to ogle at in the meantime.

In the first video, Poe (Oscar Isaac) and Finn (John Boyega) share a passive glance at one another. In the second trailer, we see small cameos of all of the main characters, including a quick flicker of a lightsaber.

The new extended trailer will air on ESPN during halftime of the NFL  game between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles in Philadelphia. The game starts at 5:15 p.m. PDT/8:15 p.m. EDT on the cable network, which is owned by Disney.

To commence the countdown for the trailer’s launch, Disney released the sequel’s official theatrical poster on Sunday , and the new artwork immediately became a trending topic on Twitter.

The seventh episode in George Lucas‘ iconic science fiction franchise will hit theaters around the world on Dec. 18. It’s expected to be a massive blockbuster, and first-day ticket sales could break records.

“The Force Awakens” is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow, with Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker reprising their roles from previous “Star Wars” films.

The film is set approximately 30 years after the events of 1983’s “Return of the Jedi.”
