‘Star Wars: The Forces Awakens’ Cast Lands Vanity Fair Cover

Young stars are the focus of the magazine’s story, but vets Harrison Ford, Chewbacca and R2-D2 also make Annie Leibovitz’s shot

Vanity Fair is known for putting Hollywood’s emerging young stars on its covers, and in June it’s showcasing Daisy Ridley and John Boyega from the cast of the upcoming sci-fi adventure film “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

But along with them in the photo by Annie Leibovitz are several stars who emerged a long time ago, and are not exactly young: Harrison Ford, Chewbacca and R2-D2.

VF unveiled its upcoming front page on Sunday with a tweet saying, “Chewie, we’re on the cover!”

The cover shot is for a story about a new Hollywood generation shaking up one of its most beloved film franchises. The magazine teased it would be releasing more photographs and exclusive video on Monday, May 4, but the full edition won’t hit newsstands until May 12.

The movie, the first in the series in a decade, arrives in theaters on Dec. 18 via Disney.
