Stephen Colbert Helps James Taylor Update ‘Fire and Rain’ Lyrics to Include ‘Star Wars,’ Man Buns (Video)

They’ve also seen Beanie Babies come and go, Al Roker’s dramatic body change and old ladies reading “50 Shades of Grey”

Stephen Colbert took a page out of Jimmy Fallon‘s late-night domination manual on Wednesday, when the CBS “Late Show” host re-wrote lyrics to James Taylor’s “Fire and Rain” and performed them with the singer.

Taylor was totally game, kicking off the remix like this: “I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen rain/I’ve seen the rise and fall of the Beanie Babies trend/I’ve seen man buns, Myspace, and the Baha Men/But I never thought I’d see a new ‘Star Wars’ again.”

“I’ve seen grandmas reading ’50 Shades of Grey,’” Colbert offered during his turn, among other weird things that have happened since the 1970s ditty.

Back to Taylor, who recalled seeing “Snakes on a Plane,” “almost every episode of ‘Friends,’” and “Al Roker‘s body go from fat to thin.” He has not seen a single episode of “Full House.”

There are apparently 75 more verses to go with that.
