Stephen Colbert’s U.Va. Graduation Speech: Turn on Your Cell Phones (Video)

Says younger generation is self-obsessed

Stephen Colbert started his commencement speech at the University of Virginia by telling the graduates to turn on their cell phones — to make sure they didn't miss anything important during his talk.

Colbert said Saturday that the younger generation is self-obsessed, just like his.

"This week's Time Magazine called you lazy, entitled narcissists who are part of the me, me, me generation," he said. "So self-obsessed — tweeting your Vines, hashtagging your Spotifys and Snapchatting your YOLOs — your generation needs everything to be about you. And that's very upsetting to us baby boomers because self-absorption is kind of our thing."

He also said he might be in a secret society. Or might not be.
