Stephen Colbert’s PAC Scores $1M (Video)

What will Colbert do with the money?

Stephen Colbert's super PAC is a very expensive joke: It's pulled in more than $1 million in contributions, according to federal reports filed Tuesday.

The treasurer of Colbert's PAC said in a letter to the Federal Election Committee that the "Colbert Report" host wanted to pass along the following message: ''Yeah! How you like me now, F.E.C? I'm rolling seven digits deep! I got 99 problems but a non-connected independent-expenditure only committee ain't one!''

Colbert reported that he had pulled in $1.02 million as of Monday.

Colbert created the PAC, called Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow, last year to highlight and mock laws that allow people and corporations to make unliminated donations to PACs. The PACs can then use them to support or oppose candidates, as long as they don't coordinate with them. Colbert has demonstrated how candidates could potentially bend that rule.

Colbert has yet to say what he will do with the money. As of Dec. 31, the PAC had about $674,000 on hand, after spending about $152,000 on operating costs, according to the PAC's disclosures.

Colbert has placed "The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart in charged of his PAC, but on Monday's episode, he set out to reclaim it. With a chase.
