Stephen King to Write Episode of ‘The Walking Dead’?

The horrormeister’s connections with series creator Frank Darabont are likely in play

Before exiting his post as columnist at Entertainment Weekly, Stephen King named AMC's  "The Walking Dead" as the second-best pop-cultural item of 2010.

Now, as reported by IGN, the prolific horror novelist may be giving the highly rated cable series about a zombie outbreak an even greater stamp of approval: King is in talks to write an episode for season two, according to series co-star Laurie Holden.

Holden, who plays Andrea on the show (and who also memorably played shady informant Maria Covarrubias on "The X-Files"), dropped the tasty nugget of news during a panel discussion at the second annual Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo on Saturday afternoon.

The collaboration would make plenty of sense, as King and "Walking Dead" creator Frank Darabont have worked on many projects together previously, including "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile."

"The Walking Dead" will return this fall.
