The network offers a first look at its upcoming presentation of the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein musical airing in December

Stephen Moyer gets to break out of the often-somber role he portrays on HBO’s “True Blood” for NBC’s upcoming “Sound of Music Live!.”

During Thursday’s episode of “The Voice,” NBC aired a first look trailer for the three-hour production of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical airing Thursday, Dec. 5 at 8/7c.

It shows Moyer smiling and dancing with Carrie Underwood, the “American Idol” champ and Grammy-winning country singer who’s playing Maria. Moyer plays the role of Capt. Georg Von Trapp, the widowed father of seven children.
