Steven Goldberg Returns to Manatt, Phelps & Phillips as Partner

The veteran attorney joins the L.A. office of the law firm after a 10 year absence

Steven M. Goldberg has returned to Los Angeles law firm Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, as partner, the company announced on Monday.

Golberg will handle entertainment litigation with Lindsay Connor. He has been a partner with the firm twice before. First in the 1980s, and again from 2000 to 2003.

His client roster has included notable sports figures including former Lakers player Jerry West, Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak and Kobe Bryant’s father, Joe “Jellybean” Bryant.

Goldberg joins Manatt on the heels of two other litigation partner additions in L.A. this summer, Donna L. Wilson and John W. McGuinness, from BuckleySandler LLP, both complex commercial litigators.

“I could not be more pleased to be back at Manatt,” Goldberg said. “The firm’s strengths across a range of practice areas have only grown since I was last a partner. This litigation team is second to none and I’m looking forward to working alongside both distinguished old friends and talented new colleagues.”

Goldberg earned a B.A. from Harvard University and a J.D. from New York University Law School, where he was a member of the Law Review.
