Stuart Ford Extends IM Global Contract

Distribution and sales company will field films from Martin Scorsese and Harrison Ford

IM Global founder Stuart Ford has extended his contract to continue serving as the film financing and distribution company's chief executive officer. The pact is described in a release as a multi-year extension.

Getty Images"It's been a thrilling ride so far and I'm looking forward immensely to the next chapter of the IM Global story," Ford said in a statement.

Launched in 2007, IM Global has produced a range of films such as 2011's low-budget horror hit "Insidious" and the 2012 "Dredd," a reboot of the comic book hero that failed at the box office.

In 2010, Ford sold a majority stake in the business to Indian conglomerate Reliance Entertainment.  He remains a shareholder in the company he helped create.

The company was busy at this year's Cannes Film Festival, where it was drumming up interest in eight projects, including Martin Scorsese's longtime passion project "Silence".

Upcoming releases from IM Global include the family title "Walking With Dinosaurs," the technology thriller "Paranoia" with Liam Hemsworth and Harrison Ford and "Plush" directed by Catherine Hardwicke ("Twilight").
