Super Bowl: ‘Muppets Most Wanted’ Trailer Touts Twitter ‘Cray Cray’ (Video)

The extended spot on game day makes fun of social media’s take on the upcoming movie

Walt Disney can’t ignore that social media opinions can often eclipse “expert” ones in both number and rawness. That’s what their new “Muppets Most Wanted” trailer on Super Bowl Sunday touts.

The hilarious TV spot airing during Sunday’s big game borrows some of social media’s most used phrases, acronyms and emoticons to pump up the famous puppet gang’s upcoming big screen release.

In “Muppets Most Wanted,” the crew’s latest European tour takes them to Berlin, Madrid, Dublin and London, among other cities. But, fame and sold out gigs can’t save frontman, Kermit the Frog, from being embroiled in an international chase for Constantine — the world’s No. 1 criminal who could be Kermit’s twin. Will the gang be able to clear Kermit’s name and bring the real bad guy to justice?

Directed by James Bobin, The Muppets co-star with Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell and Tina Fey. Plus, there’s plenty of celebrity cameos including Danny Trejo, Tom Hiddleston, Celine Dion, Salma Hayek, P Diddy, Christoph Waltz and Ross Lynch.
